Jody Ray Sanchez, 53, of San Angelo, TX passed away on November 17, 2023, in Pecos, TX.
Jody was born on November 18, 1969, in San Angelo to Richard and Juanita (Janie) Paz Sanchez. He was raised in San Angelo and attended Lakeview High School. He attended college at Western Texas College in Snyder and graduated Magna Cum Laude with an associate in science in Petroleum Technology.
He served in the Army National Guard from April 1987 to April 1989. Joined the Navy on April 1989 to April 1993 as an Operations Specialist and received a National Defense Service Medal, Kuwait Liberation Medal, Southwest Asia Campaign Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Navy Unit Commendation, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Marksman Qual Badge M-16, and Expert Qual Badge Hand Grenade. He was honorably discharged on April 21, 1993. Jody married Miranda Marie Torres on July 22, 1995, and they had three children together.
Jody worked in the oil field industry for 18 years. He excelled in his employment with each company and was always looked to for knowledge and advice. Jody had his CDL License, Hazardous Materials Endorsement Certification, IADC WellSharp Supervisor Level Well Control, and Tanker Endorsement. He loved going to the gun range with his family and teaching his grandson target practice and gun safety. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, grilling, loved Draft Kings, and watching football. He had a great sense of humor and always stayed positive about everything in life. He was warm and welcoming to everyone that crossed paths with him. He would give everything he could to anyone who needed it. He loved his Dr Pepper and his cigarettes, sweet tea and snacks. He is preceded in death by his parents and Uncle, Manuel Sanchez.
He is survived by his wife, Miranda; his children Leeroy Soto, Sierrea Sanchez and husband Dylan Ramos, Jodi Sanchez and husband Daniel Kerr; grandchildren, Remington Ray Ramos and Adriana Rose Ramos; siblings Ricky Sanchez and wife Monica and Raquel Sanchez; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bryan and Dianna Bass; many nieces and nephews and several friends who he loved like brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, November 24, 2023, at Harper Funeral Home Chapel.
