Obituary

Our Daddy Joe Earl Jay, Sr. was born May 15, 1937, in Lubbock, Texas to Charles and Eunice Jay. He walked from his tired earthy body into the arms of Jesus on April 12, 2026.

There to welcome him home are his parents, grandparents: Benjamin & Lucy, William & Myrtle, his wife Mama Nelda, daughter Linda, and many others.

Daddy taught us to fish and hunt. He loved fly fishing, blacksmithing, music, and camping in Christoval. We will never forget those times at the creek.

Those left to cherish his memories are son Joe Earl Jay, Jr., daughters Tisha (Thomas) Havins and Velda (Rick) Henley. Grandchildren: John (Catherine) Evans, Ricky (Brookes) Evans, Vanessa (Monty) Jay, Hannah Howell, Haley (Cody) Hourigan, Emma Howell, and Jessica (Pete) Connell. Great Grandchildren: Dylan Evans, Bella Hunter, Harley (Lionel) Correa, Peter Michael Connell, Olivia Connell, Bryan Evans, and Jeremy Evans. Great-Great Grandchild Athena Correa. Along with many special cousins and friends.

We would like to give a big thank you to Pastor Joe Bourgeois for always being there. We appreciate the care given from Interim Hospice, along with their Chaplain, and the staff at Bronte Health and Rehab Center.

Rest Easy Daddy, this is not goodbye but see you later!
