John C. McCallister, 78, 2026 Augusta, San Angelo, Texas died July 22, 2026 in San Angelo. He was born September 10, 1947, in Detroit, Michigan to William C. McCallister and Helen V. Sakuta McCallister.

John graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stout in Menomonie with a degree in Business Administration. He proudly served three years in the United States Army, with his final assignment in El Paso, Texas. After completing his military services, he chose to make Texas his home, often saying that he "got here as soon as he could."

On January 29, 1978 he married the love of his life Dana Morgan McCallister. John worked as a cost accountant with Mitsubishi Aircraft from 1972 to 1985 and later retired from HiPro Feeds, Friona Texas in 2008.
John found great joy in spoiling his beloved dogs. In his earlier years, he enjoyed playing golf, and in recent years he loved swimming and "puttering" around the house. He will be remembered for his quiet humor, devoted love for his family, and the simple pleasures that brought him happiness.

John was preceded in death by his parents, William "Bill" and Helen McCallister and his sister-in-law, Dean Morgan Jameson.

He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Dana McCallister; his daughter, Suarra (Robert) Browning, and his Grandson Robert Browning of San Angelo, Texas; His son Jacob McCallister of Amarillo, Texas; sister-in-law Dru Morgan of San Angelo, sister Mary Kathryn, McCallister of Surprise, Arizona; niece Kim Olkiewicz and her son Trevor all of Surprise, Arizona; Danielle (Jerry) Woodfin, Jaylea Woodfin, Dawson Woodfin, all of San Angelo, Texas,


Services will be held Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 10:00 AM at Harper's Funeral Home and Clergy
will be Father Christopher Roque.
