John William Woodring

John William Woodring, 79, was released from his earthly bonds on November 22, 2018, after many years of living with heart disease and cancer. John was born October 6th, 1939, in the foothills of the Allegheny Mountains of Central Pennsylvania, the 9th child and 5th son to Howard and Erdie Mae Thompson Woodring. John was a member of the first class to graduate in 1957 from the Bald Eagle Area HS. In January 1970 in Bellefonte, he married Molly Jean Coder. John is survived by sons Frederick and Grant of San Angelo, Texas and Mark of Roy, Utah, two grandsons, one granddaughter and 3 great granddaughters and sisters Mary Klinger of State College, Edith Richards of Julian, and Donna Stewart of Bellefonte. In addition to his parents and wife, John was preceded in death by brothers Harry, Howard, Homer, Calvin, and James and by sisters Ruth, Ethel, Elsie, and Esther, two nieces and a nephew. John spent eighteen years in the Air National Guard and was called to active duty in Germany during the Berlin crisis. He worked in many positions during his lifetime; restaurants, filling stations, milkman, carpenter of single family homes, and also on Interstate 80 and the Howard Dam, automobile salesman, and finally he retired as an Air Traffic Controller in 2007. The family requests no flowers be sent but a contribution to your favorite charity is welcome. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, TX and Wetzler Funeral Home in Bellefonte, PA. Burial will be in the Union cemetery in Bellefonte on Friday, November 30, 2018. Services will begin at 10:00 AM.
