Juanita Stovall Becknell passed from this life into the arms of her Lord and Savior on February 23, 2024, surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 4, 1927, at her aunt’s home in San Angelo. She married Neal Becknell on July 16, 1942, and was with him for 73 years before Neal passed away.
She had a long, happy and productive life. She wore many hats during her time: She was a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, fisherwoman, painter, seamstress, crafter, mentor, and a gardener, among other names. She taught us what it meant to be a Christian.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, Neal, as well as her three brothers, two sons-in-law and her parents.
Left behind to cherish her memory are their children; Danny Becknell (Jerrie), Judy McGuire, Betty Mills, Sid Becknell (Betty Jo), and her sister, Hazel Harvey. She is also survived by an abundance of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
To honor the memory of the wonderful lady she was, please consider a donation to Hospice of San Angelo or Calvary Baptist Church in lieu of flowers.
The family would like to express gratitude to the staff at St. Angelus Assisted Living for being her second family for over five years. They truly treated her with love and took care of her as if she were their own mother. They would also like to thank you for the prayers, phone calls and visits during this time.
The funeral service will be conducted at Harper Funeral Home on Thursday, February 29, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The pallbearers will be great-grandsons, Daylon Saenz, Tyler Salinas, Dryden Groat, Josh McGuire, Mason McGuire, and Caleb McGuire.
Juanita often told us how she wanted her story to read: “She was born, she lived, she died.” However, her story was much more than one phrase could ever describe.
