Karen Lavon Capps, 63, cherished wife and mother, died on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, the love of her life, Grady Kenneth Capps; her brothers Clifford Cope, Dennis Cope and Clayton Cope (Starla); and her mother and father, all of San Angelo. She leaves behind warm memories of song and laughter for all who knew her.

Capps was born November 2, 1961, in San Angelo, to Dean Dalton Cope and Sybil Day Connell. She was the stepdaughter of Kenneth Clark Connell. She attended Lakeview High School and worked as a trainer at Aetna, Target and in the home. Music was her highest calling: piano, flute, guitar and choir. She loved animals tenderly and tamed many chihuahuas.

Karen is survived by her children, Kriston Dean of Washington, D.C., Kamron Lane of Irving, Texas, and Kenley Bryan and Melanie Forister of Seattle; grandchildren, Lucas Grady Capps and Lexi Madeline Capps; her brothers, Kylan Cope and his wife Dena, of Trinidad, Colorado; Cody Cope of Amarillo, Texas; Kirby Cope and his wife Christy of Kaufman, Texas; her sister-in-law Edwina Cope of Odessa, Texas; and many nephews, nieces and cousins, whom she held close in her heart.

A service will be held graveside at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 21, at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Harper Funeral Home will direct all arrangements.
