Keith Little

October 23, 1937 — January 10, 2019

John Keith Little, of San Angelo, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 10, 2019 at the age of 81. He was born on October 23, 1937 in Bartlesville, OK, to parents Clabern Oakley and Gladys Mae (Hickerson) Little. Keith graduated from Hardin-Simmons University (HSU) in 1960, served in the Army for 18 months and then returned to HSU to complete his Masters in 1963. On December 20, 1962, Keith married Wanda June Kennemer in San Angelo, TX. Keith was a Junior High Band Director and Counselor in Lubbock, TX from 1963 until 1993, serving at OL Slaton, Evans, MacKenzie and Matthew schools. He relocated to San Angelo to join his in-law’s business, Kennemer Properties. Keith continued his love of music and joined several music groups which include the Community Band, Twin Mountain Tonesmen, Ice House Brass, Christmas Tuba Fest, Armadillo Republic Jazz Band, and the Southland Baptist Orchestra. Keith also volunteered with the Central High School Band. Keith served as Deacon at Southland Baptist Church, and previously at First Baptist in San Angelo and Oakwood Baptist in Lubbock. Keith was often the giver named ‘anonymous’ for students, widows and so many others. Keith had the gift of encouragement and was able to overlook the worst of faults to show Christ’s love. Keith is predeceased by his: father, Clabern Oakley Little; mother, Gladys Mae (Hickerson) Little; father-in-law, Jesse E Kennemer; and mother-in-law, Aldine Boles Kennemer. Keith is survived by his: spouse, Wanda June (Kennemer) Little; daughter, Kathy June (Little) West and her husband, Dr. Keith West; son, John Kevin Little and his wife, Elizabeth (Gaynor) Little; grandchildren, Jared Little, Chase Little, Sergey West, Roxann Medina and husband Javier Medina, Ri’Shea Goff, Raquel Wester; great-grandchildren, Liam Goff and Ethan Goff; and cousins, Rosemary Kinser, Jerry Keith Kinser, Karen Kinser, Roger and Linda Hickerson, Diane Hickerson, and Chris Hickerson. Visitation will be on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 6:00-8:00pm at Harpers Funeral Home. Memorial services will be on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at 10:00am at Southland Baptist Church. Burial services will follow at 12:00 PM at LawnHaven Memorial Gardens. The family asks guests to wear bright colors to the services to celebrate Keith’s transition to his new home in heaven. Dr. Chris Curran is officiating the services. Pallbearers are Kevin Little, Dr. Keith West, Jared Little, Chase Little, Sergey West, Javier Medina, D. Watson, and Mark Crouch. Honorary Pallbearers are Robert Hicks, Laylan Bratcher, Jim Jones, Fred Wilson, Gail Flood, and Dr. James Herbert. Arrangements under the care of Harper Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please send memorial contributions to Southland Baptist Church or your own congregation. The family would like to thank Southland Baptist Church congregation, Southland Baptist Orchestra, Twin Mountain Tonesmen and Ice House Brass.
