Kevan Daniel Amonett, age 49, passed away on June 23, 2026. He was born on October 9, 1976, in Brownwood, Texas, to Kevan Bruce Amonett and the late Mary Stella Naylor. Kevan grew up in Odessa, Texas, where he graduated from Odessa High School in 1995.
On August 23, 2003, Kevan married the love of his life, Katie. Together, they built a beautiful life in west Texas, where they raised their two children, Kaylee and Daniel. Kevan spent most of his life working in commercial construction or in the oilfield. He was a dedicated professional who made lifelong friends at every job, many of whom he considered to be brothers.
Outside of work and family, Kevan was a die-hard Minnesota Vikings fan who fiercely loved his team through every season. He enjoyed fishing with friends and family and playing video games with his son. He was meticulous in any project he started and prided himself on being a craftsman, not just a carpenter.
Kevan is survived by his wife, Katie Amonett; his children, Kaylee and Daniel Amonett; and his father, Kevan Bruce Amonett. He is also survived by his brother, Kevin Amonett, his wife Ashleigh, and their three children; his sister, Reanna Choate, her husband Derek, and their three children; his brother, Steven Womack; and his brother-in-law, Britt Devenport, his wife Becky, and their two children. He leaves behind a large, loving extended family, including his numerous cousins, aunts, and uncles. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Stella Naylor Porter, and step-mother, Kathy Ann Tounget Amonett.
A memorial service to celebrate Kevan's life will be held on July 11, 2026, at 10:00 AM at the Bangs Cemetery in Brown County, Texas (situated just south of the town of Bangs, along Highway 67/84; accessible by turning onto Fourth Street and taking a left onto Ray Barnes Drive).
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to a pet charity of your choice in Kevan's memory.
