Leonard Doyle Lovell, a man whose warmth and kindness touched countless lives, passed away on October 6, 2026, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born on October 11, 1946, in Baird, Texas, to Leonard Weldon (Stut) and Willie Pearl (Billie) Lovell. Doyle's journey through life was marked by love, dedication, and a profound connection to his family and community.
His family moved to Ozona, where he grew up and attended school. He met and married his high school sweetheart, Vicki Good, in 1964 and they created many wonderful memories there. In 1983, they moved to San Angelo, a place they still call home. Together, they raised a family that continues to be his greatest legacy.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, David Lovell, as well as his parents, and his brother and sister-in-law, Emmett and Juanita Lovell.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Vicki, his daughter, Darla Mikulik, and her husband, David, along with their children, Garrett Mikulik and his wife, Brigett, Shelby Michalewicz and her husband, Alex, and Blaine Mikulik and his wife, Deanna, as well as his great-grandchildren—Avery, Jack, Piper, Dylan, Beau, Roman, and Grace, who were a source of immense pride and joy for him.
Doyle dedicated his professional life to the Texas Department of Transportation, retiring after a fulfilling career during which he forged numerous lifelong friendships. An avid outdoorsman, Doyle also loved hunting, fishing, dancing, traveling and creating precious memories with his family.
His gentle spirit and kindness left an indelible mark on all who knew him. Whether sharing a cup of coffee with dear friends or basking in the laughter of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Doyle's presence was a gift to those around him.
A visitation service to honor Doyle's life will be held on October 10, 2026, from 9:00-11:00 at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo with graveside to follow at 2:00 PM at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Doyle's memory to the David Lovell Memorial Scholarship Fund, PO Box 259, Wall, TX 76957.
Doyle’s journey was one of grace, compassion, and unwavering love. His memory will forever be cherished by those fortunate enough to have been touched by his gentle soul.
