Maria Ernestine Vasquez San Miguel

The gates of heaven opened up for our beloved mother, Maria Ernestine Vasquez San Miguel on January 6, 2021 with her sons by her bedside. Maria was born on May 31,1949 in Eldorado, Texas to Sylvester Vasquez and Evita Menchaca. She was raised in Eldorado by her father. Maria was the youngest of eight children. She and her siblings helped their father run a convenient store where she loved helping her father. Maria often shared stories of her times spent with her father and siblings, but what she enjoyed the most was the access she had to all the candy in the world!  Later in life Maria had the opportunity to travel and live in places like Florida and Haslet. This gave her the opportunity to go to Walt Disney World and to as many Texas Ranger games as she wanted! Yet, what was more important to Maria was her boys. She loved preparing meals and inviting her family over to eat where she and the boys would end the evening laughing and watching silly shows like Impractical Joker, western movies, football, and baseball games. Maria also lived for rodeo season and always looked forward to attending the Rodeo with her boys and watching Brook ride the rides and laughed while watching Alex spend all her money trying to win a goldfish!  She especially loved caring for Brook and hiding oranges for a midnight snack for Brook.  Maria retired from Ethicon and later worked at Food King, Shannon and Walmart. Left behind to cherish Maria‘s memory are her four boys Val (Donna ), Luis (Christy), Valentin (Cessie), and Miguel (Tiffney) Rodriguez and her two granddaughters who she loved dearly, Alex and Brook and her three grandsons. She is also survived by her siblings Ray, Joe, Hortencia, Tencha, Ellie, and Sammy.  Maria is preceded in death by her parents, husband Frank, to whom she passed on what would’ve been his 73rd birthday, and her brother Maximo and her beloved dog, Faith. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Hospice of San Angelo for their willingness to assist in the care of their mother at all hours of the night. There are also not enough words to thank the staff at Harper Funeral Home for seeing to it that her boys properly sent their mother on a chariot to heaven. Mom, there won’t be a day that you won’t be missed, but until we see each other again we will forever love you! Love your boys, Val, Luis, Valentin and Miguel. A rosary will be held on Monday, January 11, 2021 at 6:30 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Mass will be held on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at 10:00 AM at Holy Angels Catholic Church and burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
