Martha Ann Osburn

August 24, 1937 — June 12, 2024

San Angelo, TX

Martha Ann Osburn, 85, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away with family by her side on June 12, 2024. She was born August 24, 1937, at the Wise County, Texas family home. She is preceded in passing by her father, Gordon Reed; mother, Flora Reed; sister, Sherrie Matlock; and husband Johnny Osburn.

She was the oldest daughter of 4 children, and she is survived by her brothers, Ray Reed and Danny Reed of Granbury, Texas. Also, her oldest son Alan Osburn of Eden, Texas, and younger son Brad Osburn, wife Anita Osburn, of Corpus Christi, Texas. As well as her grandchildren: Mark Osburn, wife Amanda, and children Gus and Myra of Eden, Texas; Kevin Osburn, wife Marybeth of Alma Colorado; Beau Osburn, wife Kristen, and children Kadence, Hayes, and Holt of San Angelo, Texas; Lacey Sears, husband Daniel, and children Riley and Brasen of Water Valley, Texas; Kara and husband Clark Kyle of Corpus Christi, Texas, and many more cherished nieces, nephews, and friends.

Ann grew up in Granbury, Texas helping her mother in the Hallmark shop the family owned while being the big sister to her loved younger siblings whom she loved to dote on and tell stories of. She graduated from Granbury High School in 1955, and soon after married Johnny Osburn who would be her husband for the remainder of their time over the next 60 years.

Soon after getting married Johnny and Ann moved to a piece of land near Meridian, Texas. She spent several years being a devoted homemaker on the ranch raising their two boys. In 1975 she and the family moved to the ranch south of Eden, Texas, where they spent most of their lives raising and running livestock.

Ann was very involved in the community of Eden, unwavering in her faith at the First Baptist Church, and caring for her family. Upon having grandchildren, most soon known her as “Mama” (MawMaw), and in this role, she spent many hours using her seamstress talent, which she learned from her mother, to design and create costumes or props for many school/church performances. She was always happy to lend a hand to many organizations, and functions, help chaperone trips/teams, and play in the bridge club. She loved her life on the ranch cooking food for the family and having everyone get together for the holidays.

She enjoyed traveling across this country to see the national parks, staple destinations, foliage changes, rodeos, and specialty shows, and sharing these experiences throughout her life with family and friends. While on road trips she would come up with road games to help pass the time, and help navigate, and always had a crossword puzzle book in her tote.

Upon “retirement” from the livestock industry Johnny and Ann moved to Early, Texas, where she obtained her real estate license, and found fulfillment in helping people in another facet. Her role as “Mama” flourished once again by being involved in the community, and helping in the lives of the families that she came in contact with.

In 2012 Johnny and Ann moved once more to San Angelo, Texas, to be closer to her family. She was a caretaker to her husband until his passing and continued to be “Mama” to the next generations of the family until making her heavenly debut where she has been reunited with her passed loved ones, and friends she loved so dearly.

Memorial Service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Eden on August 24, 2025, at 11am.
