Mary Childress, 95, a former longtime resident of San Angelo, went home to Heaven on June 25, 2025 in Carrollton, Texas. Graveside services, under the direction of Harper Funeral Home, will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with Pastor Bobby Roger of Calvary Baptist Church officiating.
Mary was born on January 25, 1930 in Evant, Texas to Mary and Earl Benjamin Pinson. She married Emrie Harold Childress July 2, 1947 in San Angelo, Texas where they lived most of their lives. Mary went to work for General Telephone Directory Company in 1960 and retired in 1985. Her grandchildren and great grandchildren knew her lovingly as “Mimi Mary” and they, along with her family and friends, were the joy of her life.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emrie Harold Childress; son, Dwain Pinson Childress; brother, Edwin Harold Pinson, and great-granddaughters, Maryn and Marit Childress.
Mary is survived by one son, Rick Childress and wife Debra of Flower Mound, Texas; daughter-in-law and mother to her grandsons, Susan Childress of San Angelo, Texas; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Childress of San Angelo, Texas; grandchildren, Marc Childress and wife Jeffi of Little Elm, Texas; Randy Childress and wife Sandy of Big Spring, Texas; Jamie Lewis and husband Leon of Midway, Texas; Caitlin Kaylor and husband Jonathan of Bedford, Texas; great grandchildren, Sage and Cade Childress, Sawyer and Sayler Childress, Garrison and Ryder Lewis, and James Kaylor; sister-in-law, Donna Sue Smith and dearly loved extended family and friends.
Our family wishes to thank the staff of Sonoma House 1 and Holding Hands Hospice for their devoted care to Mary. These individuals truly make a difference in the lives of the people they care for.
An open viewing will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Friday, June 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Southland Baptist Church or the charity of your choice.
