Marye Steadham, 94, of Eden, Texas, passed away peacefully at her home on June 1, 2025.
Born on January 14, 1931, in Georgetown, Texas, Marye was the daughter of James Boatman and Minnie Baines. She was raised on a farm outside of Cisco alongside her siblings Gerald, Margaret, Jane, Kenneth, and Lucille.
On June 6, 1964, Marye married the love of her life, Don Steadham. Together they built a life full of adventure and joy. They raised ostriches, showed horses, and cared for chickens and goats. Marye also enjoyed water skiing, fishing, bowling, and playing dominoes and card games with friends and family. Marye was competitive and she really enjoyed winning! The trophies won at classic car shows and her bowling trophies are still proudly on display at her home.
Marye was known for her sharp wit, generous heart, and lively sense of humor. She supported numerous charities, including St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Shriners Hospitals for Children. Always ready to lend a hand, her loyalty and love for her family were constants throughout her life.
She was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Eden. In earlier years, she was actively involved in the church and sang in the choir. Though she was unable to attend in her later years, she still considered them her church family.
Marye is survived by her children: Robert Steadham and his wife Sylvia of San Angelo, Texas; and Deborah Fort of Eden, Texas. She was a beloved grandmother to Michael Steadham (Tracie), Crystal Kiolbassa (Brandon), Matthew Fort, and Amber Fort. Her great-grandchildren Kylie, Hannah, Faith, Isabelle, and Halan brought her immense pride and joy. She also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews and her faithful canine companion, Gracie.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Don Steadham, on March 18, 2022, as well as her parents and siblings.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at Eden Funeral Home at 2:00pm. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery.
