Matthew Ryan "Matt" Werkeiser

Matthew Ryan "Matt" Werkeiser, 32, of Mertzon passed away on Tuesday, November 13, 2018. Matt was born June 10, 1986 in Easton, Pennsylvania to Bruce and Carol Werkeiser. He grew up in Maitland, FL and graduated from Lyman High School. After high school Matt worked with his father at Werkeiser Trim Carpentry, until deciding to enlist in the United States Army. Matt was sworn in on November 2, 2009, and he served his country honorably until his death. Matt married the love of his life Melody Elaine Hawkins on October 26, 2012 in Annapolis, MD. Matt was a loving husband and father who loved spending time with his family. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing paint ball, riding dirt bikes, and target practice. His greatest attributes were being extremely loyal, kind and helpful to any and all people and was easy to talk to. He had a great sense of humor and mostly loved to hang out with his family. His great love and loyalty to his family and friends will live on in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! Matt is survived by his loving wife, Melody Werkeiser, of Mertzon; his children, Alexa Elise, Daniel Alexander, Aurora Brianne, Abigail Lynn, Jacob Ashton and Kloe Mae; his Parents, Bruce John Werkeiser and Carol Brigitte Kleppinger Thomas; his siblings, Michelle Lee Stiger, Shaun Robert Werkeiser and Ethan Samuel Werkeiser; and his cherished pets, Odder and Callista. The entombment service with military honors will be 5:00 P.M., Friday, December 21, 2018 at Safe Haven Family Cemetery, 101 County Road 202, Mertzon, TX., 76941, followed shortly after by a celebration of his life.
