Melton Rufus Brewer

Melton Rufus Brewer went to be with his Father in heaven. He passed in his residence on July 28, 2025, at 87 years of age. 

Melton was born in Eden, Texas on December 24, 1937. He graduated from Eden High School in 1956. In 1957 he and Charles Jacobson went to the Southern College of Commerce in Fort Worth. Melton went to work at Harrison Motor Company in Eden putting new-fangled things called air conditioners in vehicles. (Thank you, Tony Helmers, for that info.)

Melton married Dorothy Ann Frost on December 21, 1958. Their first child was born (daughter) October 30, 1959. In 1960 Melton moved his family to San Angelo, Texas and began working at Angelo Refrigeration. On May 5, 1962, their second child was born (son). Melton worked at Angelo Refrigeration for many years until he went into business for himself.

Melton was preceded in death by his parents Melton Leo Brewer and Lena Irene (Spann) Brewer, his maternal grandparents Arlie Rufus Spann and Stella (Thompson) Spann, his paternal grandparents Christopher Columbus Brewer (C.C., Lum, Popi) and Rosa (Blalock) Brewer. Melton is survived by his wife Dorothy Ann (Frost) Brewer, daughter Sheila Kay Brewer, son Marlan Keith Brewer, grandchildren - Charlie Ann Holiday, Jeff Ellis Nanny, Bridget Michelle (Brewer) Webb, Justin Keith Brewer, Tyler Elizabeth Brewer, 6 great grandchildren, cousins, and friends. He treasured them all.

Melton, Rufus, Daddy, and Pa, we will miss you immensely until we see you again. A celebration of life is planned for a later date.
