Michael Douglas Sanders, 58, passed away on September 3, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas.
Michael was born on October 13, 1967, in Coleman, Texas, to Ronnie and Carol Sanders. He grew up in Eden, Texas, and graduated from Eden High School.
Michael worked for Concho Valley Transit and was truly a jack of all trades. There wasn’t much he couldn’t figure out, fix, or put back together. A handyman at heart, he was always willing to lend a hand when something needed to be done.
More than anything, Michael enjoyed spending time with his family. You could almost always find him cheering on his Texas Longhorns or Dallas Cowboys—and, thanks to his Aggie stepson, Walter, he even learned to cheer for Texas A&M from time to time. He may not have chosen the Aggies himself, but he loved Walter enough to proudly support them.
Christmas held a special place in Michael’s heart and was by far his favorite holiday. He loved playing Santa, handing out gifts, and enjoying the excitement of Christmas with his family. Those memories, along with his humor, love for his family, and the many moments they shared together, will be treasured for years to come.
Michael is survived by his wife, Debbie Sanders; his daughter, Megan Harrison and husband Jason of San Angelo; his son, Andrue Sanders and wife McKenzi of San Angelo; his stepson, Walter Thomas and wife Keleigh of Georgetown; and his stepson, Ty.
He was a proud grandfather to Jaxon, Braelynn, Hudson, Roland, Phoenix, and Sloane.
Michael is also survived by his mother, Carol Sanders; his brother Tim Sanders and wife Juanita of Eldorado; his brother Eric Sanders and wife Jenny of San Angelo; his beloved nephew and niece, Beau Sanders and Taylor Sanders, who held a special place in his heart; and other family members who were especially dear to him, including his aunt, Vicky Walton and husband Gary, and his aunt, Deborah Bradshaw.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ronnie Sanders.
Visitation will be held Monday, September 7, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Eden Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 8, at 10:00 a.m. at Eden Funeral Home, with Walter Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at Eden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Chris Brigandi, Nick Brigandi, Larry Singleton, Jason Hall, Jake Bradshaw, and Beau Sanders.
Michael’s life will be remembered through the family he loved, the things he could fix, the Christmases he made special, the teams he cheered for, and the countless memories that will continue to bring smiles and laughter to those who knew and loved him.
