Michael James Sheeran

August 6, 1948 — February 25, 2026

San Angelo

Michael James Sheeran, 77, passed away February 25, 2026, in San Angelo, TX.

He was born August 6, 1948, in Richland, WA to Clement James Sheeran and Helen (Gower) Sheeran. Mike graduated from Columbia High School in 1966, where he was known for his athletic ability in baseball and football. He later developed a lifelong love of golf. He attended Columbia Basin College and Eastern Washington University before joining the U.S. Air Force in 1967, serving as a munition specialist until his honorable discharge in 1970.

Michael worked for Exxon Nuclear building nuclear fuel rods for the reactors at the Hanford Reservation.

Michael spent his retirement playing golf, a game he cherished and loved. Mike never met a stranger on or off the course. He was outgoing, friendly and had a quick wit, making others laugh easily and lit up a room with laughter and one-liners. He never passed up an opportunity to tell a story, and Mike was the master of embellishment. He was known at Bentwood Country Club as the “Best Dressed Bentwood Golfer”. He wrote his first hole in one on the scorecard and it said, “only took 56 years.” He threatened to sell his wife’s golf clubs if she got her first hole in one before him, she did and he didn’t, and anyone that knows his wife, Billie, would understand.

Mike loved music, and even though the last four years he battled Frontotemporal dementia that robbed him of his memories and ability to communicate. If the golf cart had music on, he would sing every word with perfect pitch, rhythm and harmony.

Mike will be remembered for his service to his country, competitive spirit, love of family/friends, his humor, storytelling, his love of life and golf. Mike will be truly missed by his partner and soulmate, Billie, family, and friends. Michael is preceded in death by his parents, Clement and Helen Sheeran, brother, Patrick, sisters, Colleen Jones and Sally Heath, nephews, Burke Sheeran and Kevin Sheeran.

He is survived by his wife, Billie Klesch-Sheeran of San Angelo, TX; daughter, Jaymie Waubaunsee of Pasco, WA; step-son, Paul Klesch and wife, Lisa, of St. Louis; grandsons, Xavier, Jalen, and Lenax Waubaunsee; sisters, Peggy Finch of Omak, WA and Katie Johnson of Richland, WA; numerous nieces and nephews in Texas, Alaska, Illinois, Washington State and California.

A memorial service will be held at Harper Funeral Home on March 17, 2026, at 11:00 AM. A reception to celebrate Mike’s life will follow at Bentwood Country Club from 12-12:30 PM. Please feel free to wear your St. Patrick’s attire/colors since Mike and the Sheeran family have great pride for their Irish heritage.

The family would like to thank the entire Hospice of San Angelo team that cared for Mike in home and the HOSA inpatient unit for their loving care him and his family. Another special thank you goes to the Bentwood Laide Golf Association for their meals, message, hugs and companionship. To Dr. Linda Hitchcock; your ability to combine clinical excellence with genuine empathy is a rare gift. Thank you for walking this journey with us.
