Myrl Wilde

September 7, 1938 — March 2, 2024

Myrl Wilde passed away March 2, 2024. He was born in San Angelo, TX on September 7, 1938, to Alois and Josephine Wilde. Myrl grew up in Vancourt, TX, and attended school in Eola and in Wall. He graduated from Wall high School in 1957 and entered San Angelo Junior college (SAC) in the fall of 1957. He played basketball at SAC under the coaching of Phil George. After two years at SAC, Myrl attended Sul Ross University where he graduated in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree.


He began his teaching career in 1962 at Wall Independent School District. In 1964, he became the high school principal at Wall. He held this position until 1972 when he resigned to begin farming full time in the Wall community. Myrl served for nine years on the ASC committee.


Myrl married Judy Donham on August 10, 1963, in San Angelo, TX. They resided in Vancourt, Wall, and San Angelo during their 60 years of marriage. She and their son, Johnny, survive him.


Other survivors include his sister-in-law, Mary Wilde of Del Rio, TX, and sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Billy Schwertner of Miles, TX, and sister, Janell Kothmann of Menard, TX. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alton “Rusty” Wilde.


A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at 9:00am at St. Ambrose Parish Hall in Wall. Graveside service will follow at 11:00am at Fairmount Cemetery.
