Norma Jane Dougherty McDonald was born to Irvin and Norma (Tharldsen) Dougherty on August 13, 1959 in Norristown, Pa., the youngest of nine children. She grew up in Collegeville, Pa and Columbia,Md.
She graduated from school in Rahway, New Jersey. She attended some classes at St Petersburg Jr College, Fl.
She married Craig McDonald in 1993 and later divorced, remaining friends until his passing in 2019.
Norma has recently stated that she had a good life in this world with travels to many states and living in areas with an abundance of nature, Maui, Hawaii, St. Pete Beach, Fl., and Bear Valley,Ca. to name a few. Norma was always full of love for her family and unceasingly helped whenever someone was in need.
Norma had a plethora of skills and worked in a variety of capacities; horse training and trail rides, Bookkeeping, Chef, Photography, sales, and restaurant work. Her most treasured role in life is that of being a mother to Lauren McDonald, and then a Grandmother to Stevie Shannahan.
Norma is preceded in death by both parents, brothers David, Robert (Doc), and Thomas, as well as a sister, Susan, also a nephew, Ryan Ulbricht, and ex-husband Craig. She is survived by her daughter, Lauren McDonald, and granddaughter Stevie, her two favorite loves. Sisters Donna (Phil) Schwendinger of Wyoming; Lana Rutter of Odessa,Texas; Ramona (Rick) Ulbricht of Ocean Park, Wa; and Priscilla Dougherty of Austin, Texas.
We will remember Norma as being full love for family and friends, and her abundance of strength in helping others. Her ability to put her needs aside and think of others, helping, and praying for others was unsurpassed.
In lieu of flowers, Norma loved nature and prayed daily, step outside and think of Norma.
