Our beloved father and grandfather passed away after a long illness at Kindred Hospital in Webster, Texas on December 23, 2025 at the age of 88 years old.
He was born on July 18, 1937, in Spartanburg, SC. After high school he proudly joined the US Air Force where he was stationed at Lackland AFB in San Antonio. He met the love of his life Mary Lou Garza and married on September 19, 1959. They traveled the world being stationed in Alaska, Thailand, Turkey, and Italy. He was last stationed at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo where he eventually retired in 1979. He went on to sell life insurance, he operated the movie theater in Bronte, Texas. He owned The Dugout (sports memorabilia) and the Book Exchange (bookstore) and then worked as security at Sunset Mall.
OB was a great storyteller and loved to fish. He was either watching western movies or baseball with his favorite teams being the Astros and Rangers.
He is survived by his children, Barbara Henderson of San Angelo, Texas, Karen and husband Dr. Robert Zicterman of Friendswood, Texas, and Jon and wife Sarah Henderson of Spring, Texas. Grandchildren Colton and Morgan Henderson of Huntsville, Texas and Daniel Zicterman of Friendswood, Texas. Brothers, Lewis Henderson of Campobello, SC and Charles Henderson of Inman, SC; and various sisters-in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his mother Ada Mae and father OB Henderson, Sr., daughter Sandra Lynn Henderson, wife Mary Lou Henderson and brother James Henderson.
Pallbearers will be Robert Zicterman, Daniel Zicterman, Jon Henderson, Colton Henderson, Morgan Henderson and Charles Morse, Jr.
