Olivia Nicole Mikulik

November 29, 2004 — December 31, 2018

Our earth bound angel, Olivia Nicole Mikulik, was granted her wings and flew up to heaven December 31st, 2018 at 2:32 AM. Her final days were spent surrounded by her loving family as well as many of the friends that Olivia had touched in her all too short yet very memorable life. Olivia was born November 29th, 2004 at Medical City in Dallas. Her parents, Bryan & Debra Mikulik, were overjoyed when Olivia arrived just one year after the birth of her sister, Alexa Kate. From the time Olivia could crawl she had a ball in hand and continued to be athletic throughout her life. Although she enjoyed other activities like arts & crafts projects with her Nana, Sue, or shopping with Alexa, she would quickly lose interest and go play ball. As a result, Nana finished lots of gift projects for Mom or Dad and Alexa became very adept at picking out Olivia’s wardrobe and keeping Olivia’s closet full of the latest fashions. In elementary school she played soccer but when she reached middle school she discovered her true passion was volleyball. She played on several teams through the next few years. Most recently she was playing in a league that allowed for her local team, the Texas Invasion, to travel around the state to tournaments and competitions as well as belonging to the Volleyball Club at her school. Her athletic skill earned her awards in volleyball, track and golf. Due to her strong work ethic and high energy level, she was given the “Best Hustle” award by one of her coaches. As an 8th grader at Warren Middle School in Forney, Olivia enjoyed spending time with her many friends, teammates, teachers, coaches and even principals. Although she maintained a vigorous schedule with athletics, church activities and her many friendships, she never let it get in the way of her education. She has been an A or B Honor Roll student every year as well as achieving recognition for academic excellence and awards in math. Olivia knew the importance of honesty and integrity such that she was chosen to be Teachers Aid for the Spanish instructor at her school. She inspired so much trust that she had control of her teacher’s keys which gave her free reign over pretty much everything - in fact, you might say that Olivia ruled the school. Olivia didn’t restrict herself to only human friendships, she loved animals too. She especially loved her cats, Bear & Gator. Even when she rested or relaxed at home, she would still actively pet & snuggle her kitties. There was never a dull moment for Olivia. Olivia loved all of her family and friends but she had a special relationship with her big sister, Alexa. She admired and looked up to her. And of course, Alexa always looked out for her little sis. The bond they shared was strong and close. They both knew they could always count on the other to be there for anything, anywhere, anytime. Both girls had a special relationship with their Nana. Nana retired and moved to Forney before they were born so she could provide them with all the love and support they could possibly need or want. Nana wanted to give them the world and one way she did that was through travel such as Caribbean cruises, Walt Disney World excursions, trips to Florida, Nevada and Hawaii. Olivia loved going to the beach, playing in the sand, swimming in the ocean. Despite her youth, Nana gave Olivia the opportunity to experience the world. Olivia was vivacious and energetic with a friendly and outgoing spirit. She was a bright light that uplifted all those around her. Olivia's life would seem too short to many, but those who knew her understand that the quality of her time here on Earth far exceeded the quantity of that short time. She lived life in a manner that is an example for us all - reminding each one of us of the preciousness of life. Olivia is survived by her beloved older sister, Alexa Kate Mikulik. Her paternal grandparents, Harvey and Mary Jane Mikulik, of Wall, TX. Her maternal grandmother, Nana Sue Thompson of Forney. Her aunts: Sheila Thompson of Carrolton, TX, Diane Weishuhn and husband Clayton of Wall, Gayle Fincher and husband Layton of Midland, TX; her uncles Michael Mikulik and wife Kim of Wall, Kevin Mikulik and wife Cindy of Wall, David Mikulik and wife Darla of Wall; and many cousins and friends. Olivia was preceded in death by her devoted parents, Bryan and Debra Mikulik; and her maternal grandfather, Ronnie Thompson. Olivia will be greatly missed by all of us who remain here. However, we can take comfort in the knowledge that Olivia is being welcomed with open arms to her eternal home by those that loved her the very most: her Heavenly Father, and Bryan & Debra, her Mom & Dad. A Rosary will be held 6:00 PM, Thursday, January 3rd at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, Texas. The Funeral Mass is 10:00 AM, Friday, January 4th at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with burial to follow at the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery.
