Surrounded by her family and listening to her favorite polka music, Patricia Ann Woehl (nee Burkhalter), 83, of Tankersly, left this world just as she lived in it - bringing smiles and laughter to everyone she met. Known for her love of the local symphony, scrumptious banana bread, and her secret candy drawer, Patricia made every day a little brighter for friends, family, and all who knew her.
Patricia was born in Gordo, Alabama on October 10, 1942, to parents Edgar and Mable. Around 1950, her family moved to West Texas, where she grew up and graduated from Lake View High School. She then continued her schooling to become an X-ray technician. In 1967, she met and married the love of her life, Donald. They had three sons together, Courtney, Sterling, and Bennett. After a few years of working in a legal office, Patricia was able to stay at home and take care of her family. She found great joy in caring for her family and cooking meals for the guys after many hours in the field.
Patricia was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Donald Woehl; son, Sterling; and sister, Julia.
She is survived by her son, Courtney Woehl (Dawn) of Tankersley, TX; son, Bennett Woehl of Tankersley, TX; and four grandchildren, Caden, Connor, Jordan, and Jacob (Dylan); and her favorite grand-dog, Mildred.
Patricia also leaves behind her library of scandalous romance novels and mystery books, a vast stockpile of costume jewelry, and was an avid numismatist. She loved eating her favorite foods: crab legs, French onion soup, collard greens and cornbread, and chicken and dumplings.
Patricia had many favorite pastimes, including spending time with her family down on the river (“just listening to the guys talk”), road trips to Fredericksburg with Grandpa, playing bingo, and collecting coins and lots and lots of costume jewelry. She also enjoyed watching westerns and NCIS.
