Patsy Claudine Wilcox

Patsy Claudine Wilcox, 90, of Goldthwaite, Texas, passed away from this life to the next into the arms of Her Lord and of her Christ on Wednesday, September 23, 2026. She was born at home in the Trigger Mountain Community on January 5, 1936, to L.B. and Wilma Lee Bramblett.

She was baptized at the Mullin Baptist Church at a young age. She was raised as a Baptist and was a very active, longtime member of the First Baptist Church of Goldthwaite. Patsy graduated from Mullin High School in May 1954 and went on to work for the Telephone Company as an operator to put herself through school at Howard Payne University, until she chose to leave her studies to marry her one true love, Bobby Lee Wilcox.

On June 30, 1956, they married and went on to have four wonderful children and shared almost 65 years together. Through these years, Patsy followed Bobby to Johnson City, Lampasas, and back to Goldthwaite, not only as a homemaker, but served as a county clerk in both Johnson City and Lampasas. While in Johnson City, one memorable time and her claim to fame was that she registered President Lyndon B. Johnson and Lady Bird Johnson to vote. When they moved back to Goldthwaite to their current home, she worked in a tax office along with being a rancher’s wife and gardener.

At the beginning of their marriage, Patsy and Bob moved to the old home place in Rattler Community where the lake cabin is currently located and is a place that was dear to our dad’s heart which made it a place that Mother enjoyed gathering the family. The Rattler Community is also the place that Patsy’s famous “Rattler Biscuits” came about. She continued to make these biscuits for many, many years, and shared the recipe, the special bowl, and a tin can, to each grandchild as an extra little wedding gift from her heart. We celebrated several Mother’s Days and other special occasions with her favorite, a shrimp boil. One of her famous reminders at these gatherings was “at 9pm milkshakes are being made”, and it was always certainly during a ‘hot game’ of Skip-Bo. Patsy became known for her baked goods – homemade blackberry or peach cobblers, assortments of pies, sugar cookies in all shapes, and most enjoyed was her homemade peach ice cream. These delights were enjoyed while preparing fresh vegetables from her garden. However, on Saturday nights, Mother was given a reprieve from all the cooking as we would share bowls of popcorn and fruit while we watched whatever movie or pageant was on the television.

Patsy also made Thanksgivings and Christmases extra special with her homemade candies and cinnamon rolls. Traveling was important to Mom and Dad, either with other couples or family to venture to Disney World, The Bad Lands, or to follow grandchildren around with their various activities, or other school trips like New York, Philadelphia, and Washington D.C. She enjoyed cruises and got to cruise to Alaska with Dad for their 50th wedding anniversary with an aunt and cousin. She also did a Caribbean cruise with her daughters and was able to visit Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, and Boston with her daughters, aunt, and sister-in-law. Some of her special times were gathering with her and Dad’s couple friends, her lady friends for lunches, and attending church functions. Besides cooking, her hobbies included embroidery, gardening, reading books, completing crossword puzzles, and watching game shows.

Up until the last month, she was adamant about streaming her favorite church services with Brother Dan Connally and services from First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite. In the past few years, she read the Bible twice through and did a daily devotional. At her new retirement home, where she relocated after Dad passed, she attended the evening chapel service at 5pm on Sundays with many of her new friends. We, her children, were in awe of our mother’s courage and tenacity in making the choice to start a new life of her own in San Angelo after the passing of our dad. She had to make new friends in a new place, which gave us many opportunities to visit with her more often as time would allow. To the end of her life, we were able to love and take care of her needs as she had always done for us.

Through the long, blessed life that Mother lived, we learned that fears are necessary to grow in our faith, and our mom demonstrated this to us throughout her years. Our Lord, Jesus Christ, has received His faithful servant. All is well with her soul.

Patsy is survived by one precious sister, Carolyn Hampton; her daughters and son, Delilah Harper (Ray) of San Angelo, Texas; Debbie Page (Dale) of Bangs, Texas, Troyce Wilcox (Becky) of San Angelo, Texas and Patti Stubblefield (Scott)of Brownwood, Texas; grandchildren, William Ray Harper II (Will) (Kymber); Hallee Harper-Kinney (Justin), Mattie SanJuan (Fred); Jodi Duncan (Jason); Cody Page (Jennifer); Katlin Wilcox – Vasquez (Nick); Clare Hallmark (Adam); Macy Wilcox; Seth Stubblefield (Lauren); Alyssa Vara (Connor); great-grandchildren, Addison Harper; William Ray Harper III (Tripp); Cameron Harper; Victoria Kinney; Owen Kinney; Wesley Grace SanJuan; Wyatt SanJuan; Jaxon Duncan; Ryder Duncan; Ellie Duncan; Eli Page; Meredith Hallmark; Judah Stubblefield; Summer Stubblefield; Theo Stubblefield and Ember Vara; sisters-in-law, Linda Bramblett; Patsy Hanson; and numerous cousins and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Bobby Lee Wilcox, her parents, L.B. and Wilma Bramblett; 2 brothers and 2 sisters; Carlton Bramblett; Pete Bramblett; Peggy Miller and Judy Bramblett; as well as her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Leona Wilcox.

The Wilcox family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the doctors, nurses, and staff of Shannon Medical Center, Baptist Memorial Retirement Community, St. Juanita’s, Hospice of San Angelo, Rosa Carriles, and all her wonderful caregivers, for the dedicated and genuinely sincere care they provided to her.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26, at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite with refreshments being provided at The Youth Center across the street. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church in Goldthwaite, TX under the directions of Stacy-Wilkins Funeral Home.
