Paula Smith Woods, of Voss, passed away in San Angelo on July 13 at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with lung cancer. She was born Aug 16, 1954 in Lamesa, TX to Jim Smith and Joyce Wilson.
Paula was a graduate of Borden County High School in Gail, TX. She married Mike Woods on July 10, 1996. They recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Paula loved to fish, play games, and spend time with her grandchildren. In her adult life, she worked for many years at Jim Bass Ford and Kelly Automotive. When she retired, she and Mike moved to their dream home at Lake O.H. Ivie where she resided at the time of her death.
Paula is survived by her spouse Mike, her favorite daughter, Shawna (Billy) Boland of Blanchard, OK and her favorite son, Justin Tate of San Angelo. She is also survived by her mother, Joyce Smith, brother Monte (Deidre) Smith, 2 cherished granddaughters, Kelcey (Turner) Daffron of Argyle, TX and Jenna Tate of San Angelo and a great-grandson Parker Daffron.
Additional survivors include her blended family: Matthew and Michael Woods, Ciara Walton, Jamie Shaffer, Austin and Tucker Boland, Jon and Maverick Boland and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jim Smith, and her children’s father, Doug Tate.
A celebration of her life will be scheduled at a later date.
The family extends extreme gratitude to Hospice of San Angelo.
