Peggy Joyce Terrell Tooker, 85, of San Angelo passed peacefully from this earth surrounded by her family on Friday, April 28, 2017 in San Angelo, Texas. Peggy was born in Lubbock, Texas on August 13, 1931 to Frank Buford and Myrtle Clarice Haynie Terrell. She graduated from Lubbock High School, and went attended Texas Tech University where she received Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees. She later attended North Texas University, where she received her Master’s Degree of Library Science. She married Orrin Wendell Tooker in 1953 and they raised two children. During her lifetime, she taught school in New Deal, Lubbock, Springlake-Earth, and Abernathy. Peggy then pursued her career as a Librarian for Hale Center High School, Texas Tech University, South Plains Community College, and the Abernathy Public Library, and Woolworth Community Library in Jal, New Mexico. During the 1990’s, she managed the Hotze House Bed and Breakfast in Little Rock, Arkansas. Peggy was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Society, Kappa Kappa Iota, Order of the Eastern Star, and the United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she loved reading, traveling, playing bridge and other games, and enjoying people, especially her family and friends. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers: Buford Elton Terrell, Lewis Preston Terrell, and Jimmie Glenn Terrell. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Gates and her husband Steven; her son Kelly Tooker and wife Pamela; her grandson Derek Tooker and wife Jaymee; her great granddaughters Whitney and Lindzi Tooker; her great grandsons Erik and Zachary Tooker; her two nieces Fran Grogan and Kathy Terrell; and her three nephews Robert Terrell, Bill Terrell, and Randy Terrell. The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Monday, May 1, 2017 at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Baptist Memorials Chapel in San Angelo. On Thursday, May 4, 2017, there will be a Funeral Service at 10:00 A.M., at Abel Funeral Home in Abernathy, Texas, followed by private graveside services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of your choice.
