Randy Minton

April 27, 1952 — December 1, 2020

Randall Allen Minton was born April 27, 1952, on a Sunday to Henretta and W. L. Minton. Randy left to go home to Glory on Tuesday, December 1, 2020, he was 68 years, 6 months, and 28 days young. Randy was born and raised in San Angelo. He graduated from Central High School in 1970. The Angry Orange where Randy played and loved baseball. His family knew him as a great 2nd baseman or shortstop but learned as he told his granddaughter Kalysta just a few weeks ago, that he pitched in the Minor Leagues. His team was the New York Yankees and he loved telling stories of the greats. Randy fell in love with officiating part of sports and officiated for over 20 years until his heart attack in 2008. He called for one more year – He said he had to prove to himself that he could still do it. Randy loved to teach the new and young ones the rules of interpretation and calling and his passion for officiating. He took it very seriously and wanted them to as well. Randy worked for many places, but Martin Glover may have been his first real job. He did talk about the days of working with the grounds crew for SAISD. He went to work for the San Angelo State School for many different divisions and was great at what he did. He retired and decided to try his hand at propane and propane accessories at Concho Propane, then he chose the life of a car salesman. He took sales jobs at Chevrolet, Toyota, and Jim Bass Ford. Randy was a fair-man, and it was probably your lucky day when you got him as a salesman. Randy finished working for Kevin Albright at Auto Wrangler. He was the epitome of “Jack of All Trades and Master of None.” Randy had many lifelong achievements – too many to list as he was so humble, we do not know them all. He just enjoyed life and living vicariously through his children and his granddaughter. Randy is preceded in death by his father, W. L. Minton. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Sandra; children; Justin Minton of Jacksboro, TN, Heather Minton of Aubre, TX, Nicole Baker and husband Andy of Water Valley, and Jarrod and wife Melissa of Water Valley, grandchildren; Kalysta Gale Minton-Holland (#12 on the court and #1 in his heart), Sye Baker (Big S Little i) “Smile Nicole”, Brooks Minton, Marc Minton, Brisa Minton, Amaryllis Minton, Idalisa Minton, Tyler Carullo, Cecelia Carullo, Cameron Carullo, and great granddaughter Ryan Carullo, mother; Henerye Minton, and brothers; Jerry Minton and Mike Minton.
