Rikke Jean Black

January 31, 1966 — February 26, 2023

Rikke Jean (Letcher) Black of San Angelo, TX succumbed to her long battle with cancer on Sunday, February 26th, 2023. Rikke was born on January 31st, 1966 in Wichita Falls, Texas. Rikke moved to San Angelo at a young age, and graduated from Lake View High School in 1984. Rikke attended Jeans College of Beauty and received her Cosmetology license when she turned 16 years of age. At the age of 19 Rikke married Rodney, her husband of 37 years. In 1993 Rikke earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Angelo State University. Shortly after she began her career with the San Angelo Independent School District. In 2005 she earned her Masters of Education degree from Sul Ross State University. Rikke worked in many areas of the district as a teacher, P.E. Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal, and Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction. Rikke’s love for the students she served was immeasurable. Rikke touched the lives of countless students and their families over her 30 year career. Rikke not only dedicated her life to her career, she lived her life for her family. Rikke spent her extra time coaching her children and grandchildren in youth sports, showering them with gifts from Target and spoiling her dog Lucy. Rikke also was a member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church.


Rikke is survived by her husband Rodney Black; her three children and their spouses, Rikke’ Flores and husband Isaac, Kylie Chadwick and husband Tyler, Hayden Black and fiance Sarah Grafa; grandchildren Kezlyn, Preslee, Graye, Layne and Maren; mother Wanda Jean Muckle and husband David Muckle; siblings and their spouses, Jarvis Letcher and wife Tamara, brother Jerry Letcher and sister Jodi Letcher; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.


Rikke was preceded in death by her grandparents, father, and nephew Sawyer.


Visitation will be at Harper's Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 28th from 5pm-7pm. Funeral services will be at Glen Meadows Baptist Church on Thursday March 2nd at 2pm. Followed by graveside at Lawnhaven Memorial


The family would like to thank everyone for all the outpouring of love and support for Rikke during her struggles and donations can be made in Rikke’s honor to St. Judes Children's Research Hospital or CureSearch for Children’s Cancer.
