Robert Paul "Bobby" Baird

Robert Paul “Bobby” Baird, 55, passed away on September 9, 2026, after a courageous journey with glioblastoma. Bobby was born on March 26, 1971, in San Angelo, Texas, to Alton and Linda Baird, both of whom preceded him in death.

Bobby graduated from Miles High School and built a life defined by hard work, creativity, humor, a love of 80’s music, faith, and a deep love for the people and animals around him. Over the years, Bobby worked for Levi Strauss, GTE (Verizon), and later Indeco Industrial Electric Co., where he truly loved his work and the people he worked alongside. He especially loved bosses, Jason and Sarah Entzminger whom Bobby considered family. Karen Gothard, David Kiser and the entire Indeco family also held a special place in his heart.

Bobby shared a special bond and love with lifelong friends Mike Johnston, Eric McCrea, Charlie Williams, Jason Foutch and Jason and Misty Woodard.

Bobby was a gifted craftsman who could create something beautiful with his own two hands. He enjoyed woodworking and made wooden crosses and furniture, and he even built his own home. He loved working outside, planting flowers, raising chickens, and caring for animals. Animals seemed to know Bobby’s gentle spirit and were naturally drawn to him. Unless you were a racoon or a bobcat.

Those who knew Bobby will remember his funny and playful personality. He could make people laugh and bring life to a room. Beneath that humor was a man with a tender heart who loved deeply.

Bobby was the proud father of four children: Odessa Baird and his wife, Carrie Baird; Cheyenne Baird; Reese Baird; and Grayson Baird. He was also blessed with grandchildren Tristan, Kinley, Eleanor, Evelyn, and Kelly.

Bobby is survived by his siblings, Debra Sosolik, and her husband (his best bro) Bobby Sosolik, and Todd Baird. After his diagnosis with glioblastoma, Bobby went to live with Debra and Bobby in Christoval, Texas. From 2022 until his passing, their home became his home and his safe place. Debra and Bobby devoted their time, love, and hearts to caring for him throughout his illness, surrounding him with family and comfort during some of the most difficult years of his life.

Bobby shared a special bond with his niece, Morganne, and his nephew, Corey Speck and wife, Stacye Speck, as well as his great-nieces and great-nephew, Briley, Christabella, Jordan Baird, Logan Speck, and Victoria Speck. He gained additional family with Aaron and Kaitlyn Brosh and Aarolyn Brosh who he always told to “go to bed”. Erik and Hallie Sosolik and their girls Charlee and Steelie were special to him. He really enjoyed when they would hug him and treated him as their own. His family meant so much to him, and the love they shared brought joy and comfort throughout his life.

Morganne walked especially closely beside Bobby through his final days. As his illness progressed, she devoted herself to his care, spending his final days by his side (literally in the bed) and caring for him until he passed away. It was an act of love.

Bobby entered Hospice of San Angelo’s care in May 2026. His family is deeply grateful for the hospice nurses who cared for him with compassion and dignity, especially Candy Molina and Elsa Longoria, whose kindness and support brought comfort to Bobby and his family during his final weeks.

Perhaps one of the most meaningful parts of Bobby’s final journey was the strengthening of his faith. During the last months of his life, Bobby earnestly sought Jesus and spent time learning and reading the Word of God. Just ten days before his passing, Bobby attended Christoval Baptist Church. During the service, he stood before the congregation and shared his life and testimony. The congregation gathered around him and prayed over him a beautiful moment of faith, grace, and peace that his family will forever treasure.

Bobby’s life is not measured by his illness or by how it ended. It was measured by the things he built, the laughter he created, the animals he loved, the flowers he planted, the family and friends he cherished, and the faith he found and held onto until the very end.

Those who loved Bobby find comfort in knowing that the man who spent so much of his life creating things with his hands now hone home to the One who created him.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, September 14, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
