Roger Murray Dolliver

Roger Murray Dolliver, aged 92, was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 20, 2025. Roger was born on September 18, 1933, in Reno, Nevada, to William Stafford and Anne Brown Dolliver. He spent his youth and teenage years in San Luis Obispo, CA, and spent his summers at the family lake property in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, which he continued to visit throughout his life. Upon graduation from high school, Roger moved across the country to attend Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. After graduation in 1955, he joined the US Air Force and was stationed in Formosa (now Taiwan) as an Intelligence Officer after the Korean War. He was eventually stationed at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo, TX, where he was set up on a blind date with Martha Kenley.

Roger and Martha were married on March 18, 1961, and moved to San Mateo, CA, where Roger taught and earned his Masters in Education at the University of California Berkeley. They lived in California for a year and then moved back to San Angelo, where Roger joined his father-in-law, Gordon Kenley, in the insurance business. He and Martha remained in San Angelo for the next sixty or so years, raising their three children and serving in the community. Roger served on the Board of Directors of Texas Bank for many years, and also served on the boards of the Texas State Board of Insurance, the Fort Concho Museum, The Massie Foundation, and San Angelo Country Club, alongside other community organizations. Roger was active at both Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and First United Methodist Church of San Angelo, and he was a long standing member of the San Angelo Kiwanis Club. He was an avid tennis player and had a weekly doubles match for over forty years with the same set of friends. He and Martha moved to the Austin area late in life to be closer to children and grandchildren.

Roger is preceded in death by his parents and by his eldest son, Kenley Stafford Dolliver, who died earlier this year. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his daughter Elise Whyte (Scott) and son John Dolliver (Leslie), and by his seven grandchildren Harrison Whyte (Brittany), Anna Dolliver, Cameron Whyte (Nicole), Davis Whyte, Martha Dolliver, David Dolliver, and Charlotte Whyte. Services will be held at Weed Corley Fish Funeral Home in Lakeway, Texas on Saturday, November 22nd at 1:00 p.m. A reception will follow. Graveside services will be held at Fairmont Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas, on Monday, November 24th at 10:00 a.m. Another reception will follow at Miss Hattie’s Restaurant downtown.
