Rosalie Schwertner Sturm, our precious mom, and Mamo, age 95 waltzed through the gates of heaven on July 13, 2022, after a short illness. Rosalie was born September 4, 1926, in Rowena, Texas. She was the daughter of Walter and Mary Woehl Schwertner. She married her one and only, Henry Sturm on October 30, 1944, and they started their life together on the farm in Runnels County. There they started their family of five children. She was a member of The Catholic Daughters of America, St. Helen's Altar Society, very active in the Senior Citizens group, and loved to baby sit the littles for CCD teachers. She spent countless hours working beside dad in the fields, picking cotton, building fences, taking care of livestock, she had the most beautiful yard and took pride in her home and family. She was so proud of her children and grandchildren. She was a talented seamstress and taught her daughters the art of sewing. This included countless wedding gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses and doing alterations for those in need, making beautiful baby quilts, pillows for homes, hospitals and for kindergarten classes. She took up the hobby of making and dressing porcelain dolls for all her children and grandchildren to have. Each doll reflected that child's personality. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry of 60 years, daughter Debbie Wilde, daughter-in-law, Connie Sturm. Survivors include children Marilee and Eugene Jost of St. Lawrence, Ruby and Michael Braden of Wall, Michael Sturm of Veribest, Kevin and Teresa Sturm of Veribest. Grandchildren Douglas (Carol) Jost, Jacque (Doyle) Schaefer, Darren (Kimberly) Jost, Tiffany (Chris) Matschek, Brian (Kathy) Braden, Brandon (Brandi) Braden, Cory (Tracy) Braden, Curt (Krystle) Braden, Shelby Sturm, Cody Sturm, Dara (Patrick) Anderson, Chandra Graves, Cayla (Jason) Bowie, Danica Wilde, Ashley (Scott) Henrich, Justin Sturm, 34 great grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren, one brother Andrew Schwertner of Lowake and many nieces and nephews. A rosary will be held at 6:00pm on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Wall, TX. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00am on Monday, July 18, 2022, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with burial to follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff of Shannon Medical Center 4 South for their compassionate care and Hospice of San Angelo. The family would also like to thank the caring staff of Rio Concho Terrace. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Ambrose Cemetery fund or a charity of your choice.
