Roxie Mae Boyd James

Roxie Mae Boyd James, 74, of Mertzon, TX, passed away on January 13, 2019 at home, after an extended battle with cancer. Graveside services will be held at 3 PM, Thursday January 17, 2019 at the Mertzon cemetery, with Donna Smith officiating. Arrangements are by Harper Funeral Home. Roxie was born in Pittsburg, TX to Charlie and Elizabeth Boyd on June 13, 1944. She was the youngest of 8 children, Roxie moved at the age of two with her family to Artisia, New Mexico where she lived until her marriage Claude James in April of 1963. Over the years she worked many jobs but is best remembered working as a dispatcher for both the Irion County Sheriff’s office and Tom Thorp Transport for many years. Roxie is preceded in death by her parents, several siblings and her beloved husband Claude. Roxie is survived by her son, Charlie and daughter, Cheryl both of Mertzon, two grandchildren, Kaleb Elkins of Mertzon and Ashley Milo of California, five great grandchildren, Carson, Rhemy, Paxton, Atticus, and Kooper. The family of Roxie wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the many friends and family that have helped and prayed during her long battle.
