Reverend Rudolph Flores Luna, affectionately known as “Pastor Rudy,” 87, of San Angelo went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, in San Angelo. Rudy was born February 11, 1936, in San Antonio, Texas to Cecilio and Rebeca Flores Luna. He attended South Plains Junior College, Southwestern Bible College in Waxahachie and LABI. Rudy met and later married the love of his life Benina Almaras on July 10, 1956, and they shared 63 beautiful years together and raised 5 children. Rudy was a loving son, husband, father and grandfather who devoted his life to his ministry and his family. He was a student of the Word with a passion in mentoring others to follow God’s heart and become pastors themselves. He loved reading the Bible and educating himself on God’s Holy Word, preaching and teaching the word of God and praying and spending time with God. Pastor Rudy achieved over 50 years in the ministry. He established a night Bible School called the Texoma Bible School for the section in Wichita Falls and was elected Secretary Treasurer for the Lubbock Section and Presbyter for 38 years. He also spent 2 years as Assistant Superintendent for the West Texas Regional Conference. He took pride and joy in helping the city and community as a pastor and chaplain preaching in missions and working with law enforcement. Over the course of his career, he also used the radio station as a ministry to reach out to the lost (Mensaje de Vida.) In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and being “Mr. Handyman.” He will always be remembered for his integrity, determination in the ministry, and passion for God. Rudy was preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Cecil and Rebeca Luna, his wife Benina Almares Luna, his son-in-law, Juan Charles and his brothers, Ruben Luna, Gilbert Luna and Roy Lee Luna. He is survived by his children, Geneva Charles, Abel and Darlene Luna, Rebecca and Larry Jacques, Samuel and Angelica Luna and Lydia and Fernando Lopez; 26 Grandchildren; 21 Great-Grandchildren; 12 Great-great-grandchildren; and his siblings, Irene and Paul Pecina, Marcie and John Arthur, David and Belen Luna, Cecilio Luna, Jr., Josue and Hope Luna, Adam and Shelly Luna and Yolanda Luna.
