Sammy Farmer

December 10, 1951 — January 20, 2026

San Angelo, TX

Sammy Farmer, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and faithful servant of the Lord, was born on December 10, 1951, in San Angelo, Texas, to Sam and Daisy Farmer. He went home to be with Jesus on January 20, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

Sammy’s life was first and foremost rooted in his love for Jesus Christ. His faith was not merely spoken, it was lived out daily through selfless service, humility, and genuine love for others. As a devoted Deacon at Immanuel Baptist Church, Sammy led quietly but faithfully, pointing others to Christ through both his actions and his words. He believed deeply in the power of daily prayer, the importance of strong community, and the calling to love people well and unconditionally. His faith shaped every role he held as a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and servant-hearted leader, and it remains one of the greatest legacies he leaves behind.

If you were Sammy’s friend, you were family from the moment you met him. He had a rare gift for giving of himself freely, always making others feel seen, valued, welcomed, and deeply cared for. His greatest joy, however, was his own family, whom he loved fiercely and faithfully. Sammy was a legendary father, leaving behind a legacy that spans generations. He was a devoted husband to the love of his life, Jeana Farmer, whom he married on July 15, 1972. Their fifty-three-year marriage stood as a true testament to enduring love, commitment, and partnership.

A man of service and loyalty, Sammy dedicated 30 years to serving the business, customers, and community of M.L. Leddy’s, and served as a County Commissioner in Tom Green County since 2019. He also faithfully served on the San Angelo Stock Show & Rodeo Committee for 48 years. In each role, his leadership reflected integrity, gratitude, and a deep desire to serve others while pointing his community toward Christ.

Sammy is survived by his loving wife, Jeana Farmer; his children, Tara Kelley and her husband Stephen Kelley, Bill Farmer, Tye Farmer and his wife Kelly Farmer; his ten grandchildren, Braden Williams and wife Karleigh Williams, Abbie Williams, Allie Lopez and her husband Nathaniel Lopez, Bryce Kelley and his wife Skylar Kelley, Bristi Kelley, Ty Casey, Colter Farmer, Jase Farmer, Skylar Farmer, and Slayton Farmer; and his great-grandchild, Kohen Lopez. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Darlene Farmer; brothers-in-law, Bill Donica; Walter Don Hensley and his wife Gaynelle Hensley; and his many nieces and nephews: Judie English, Darla Sanderson and her husband Michael Sanderson, Sharla Abbott and her husband Tom Abbott, Tasha Sullivan and her husband Greg Sullivan, Toby Donica and his wife Heather Donica, and Josh Donica. Also by special friends, Sterlin Gilbert, Cody Crill, Liz Treadwell, Deeann Franklin, and Beverly Allen.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Daisy Farmer; his sister, Carlene English; his brother, Harold Farmer; his brother-in-law, Paul Ray English, and nephews, Paul Wayne English and Stephen English.

Honorary pallbearers include County Judge Lane Carter, fellow County Commissioners, the Deacons of Immanuel Baptist Church, and cherished friends who were always considered family: Gary Tucker, Steve Floyd, Mike Floyd, Bob Crill, Wilson Franklin, and Mark Dunlap.

Visitation will be held at the Immanuel Baptist Church Gymnasium on 90 East 14th Street, in San Angelo, Texas, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, from 4:00–7:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life service will be held at Immanuel Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 10:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Sammy’s honor to Immanuel Baptist Church or to support The American Liver Foundation. The family would also like to thank the amazing care givers at Concho Hearts Hospice, Dr. Randi Peterson, Dr. Levi Hubble, Dr. Rudy Haddad, Dr. Chris Haddad, & Dr. Victor Garcia Rodriguez for their gracious care in our hero’s last days. You are each Angels on Earth.

Sammy Farmer leaves behind a legacy not measured by years, titles, or accomplishments, but by the lives he touched, the family he built, and the love he gave so selflessly. Though his absence leaves an immeasurable ache, his presence will forever live on through shared stories, enduring values, and generations yet to come.

We rejoice knowing that today, Sammy is fully restored, reunited with loved ones who went before him, and hearing the words he lived his life for:

“He made a difference.”
