Samuel Charles Martinez

Samuel Charles Martinez was born on April 9, 1981, in Big Lake, Texas, to Sammy and Viriginia Martinez. A lifelong resident of Big Lake, Samuel grew up surrounded by family, faith and a close-knit community. He attended Reagan County High School and, after graduating, began his career in the oilfield. He dedicated many years to the oilfield industry and proudly completed his career as a rig operator for Red Diamond.

Samuel was raised in the Catholic faith, made his First Communion, and continued to carry his faith with him throughout his life. His faith, family, and the people he loved were an important part of who he was.

Samuel was a man who believed in “living life to the fullest.” He loved to travel and, more than anything, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a special love for the memories made at cook-offs, where he proudly served as his dad’s unofficial “media guy,” taking pictures, recording moments, and making sure the memories would last long after the day was over. He loved photography and capturing the little moments that brought people together.

Those who knew Samuel will remember him for his playful personality, caring heart, kindness, and ability to make the people around him feel loved. He had a way of bringing laughter and joy wherever he went. Samuel cherished the time he spent with the people closest to him and never took a good moment, a good laugh, or a family gathering for granted.

He was a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, cherished son and brother, and a loyal friend. His greatest joy was his family, and the memories he created with them will forever remain a part of his legacy. Samuel’s love, laughter, stories, and unforgettable personality will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Samuel Charles Martinez entered into eternal rest on September 25, 2026, at the age of 45. Though his time on earth was far too short, he leaves behind a lifetime of memories and a love that will continue to live on through his family and all those who knew him.

Samuel is survived by his beloved wife, Ruth Martinez; his children, Jeremiah, Joel, Janelle (Fabian), and Joakim Martinez; and his three grandchildren, Adelyn Martinez, Adaliah Martinez, and Izael Garcia.

He is also survived by his parents, Sammy and Virginia Martinez; his brother, James Martinez; his mother-in-law, Julia Chavez; his sister-in-law, Josefina Chavez; and his brother-in-law, Jose Chavez Jr. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who will forever cherish his memory.

Samuel was preceded in death by his beloved granddaughter, Gianna Jaylani Garcia; his grandparents, Alfredo and Cosme Robles and Ignacio and Trine Martinez; his father-in-law, Jose Chavez; and his sisters-in-law, Olivia De La Cruz and Patricia Chavez.

Samuel’s life was a blessing, his memory a treasure, and his love will remain in the hearts of his family and friends forever. Though he may no longer be here to make memories with us, the countless photographs, stories, laughs, and moments he captured and shared will serve as reminders of the beautiful life he lived.

May Samuel rest peacefully in the loving arms of God, reunited with those who went before him, and may his memory forever live on through the people he loved most.

A visitation will be held at St. Margaret of Cortona Catholic Church on Friday, October 2, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm. A rosary will immediately follow at 6:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2026 at the church at 11:00 am with burial to follow at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake.
