Santiago Marquez De La Rosa

Santiago Marquez De La Rosa, 72, of Big Lake, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, October 7, 2018 in San Angelo surrounded by his loving family. Santiago was born June 22, 1946 to Vicente and Maria De Jesus Marquez De La Rosa. He grew up in Del Rio and after going to school for a while started working with the family as an agriculture worker. Santiago worked for many years in agriculture and then in 1973 he moved to Big Lake, Texas where he made his home and raised 4 children. He worked for numerous companies in the construction business until his retirement. Santiago loved being outdoors and fishing and cooking barbeque, especially “cabrito", and having family gatherings. Most of all he loved joking around with all his family and friends and always tried to make everyone laugh at his jokes. His love and laughter will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss him! Santiago was preceded in death by his father Vicente, his grandson, Clayton De La Rosa and 2 brothers, Oscar De La Rosa and Juan Hervey De La Rosa. He is survived by his sons, George De La Rosa and his wife Tiffany, Santiago De La Rosa, Jr. and his wife Cassandra, and Sergio De La Rosa and his wife Amanda, all of Big Lake; his Daughter, Sandra Jiminez and her husband Juan Antonio, of New Branfels, TX; 16 Grandchildren; 18 Great Grandchildren; his Mother Maria De Jesus “Chita” De La Rosa; his Brothers, Benigno De La Rosa, Valdo De La Rosa and Reginaldo De La Rosa; and his Sisters, Maria Sanchez, Rosa Cuellar and Tina De La Rosa. He is also survived by numerous other family members and close friends. The family will receive friends for visitation from 6:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M., Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel with a Prayer Service starting at 7:00 P.M., and Fabian Ramirez will be officiating. The Graveside Service will be 11:00 A.M., Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Glen Rest Cemetery in Big Lake with Rev. Porfirio Rodriguez officiating. Pallbearers for the service will be Danny Cuellar, Alex Sanchez, Vicente De La Rosa, Benjamin De La Rosa, Reggie De La Rosa and Juan De La Rosa.
