Sharon Ann “Sherry” Thompson Hargis, 81, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, February 10, 2026.
Sherry was born March 29, 1944, in Alpine, Texas, to Richard Eldridge and Ruby Faye Coe Thompson and was raised in Marathon, Texas. She married young and started her family while she worked alongside her parents and brother for several years in the family’s businesses.
Sherry devoted her life to her family and to her faith. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose steady strength and quiet resolve shaped the lives of those around her. Her faith in the Lord guided her throughout her life, and she was especially proud of two things: her years teaching Sunday School and her years of raising her children to be faithful believers.
She found joy in reading, sewing, working puzzles, and spending time with her family and friends. She also embraced life as a rancher’s wife, sharing in the work and responsibilities of caring for her and her husband’s land and livestock.
After her husband’s passing, Sherry moved from Van Horn, Texas, to Rio Concho East in San Angelo in February 2010. She truly loved the 16 years she spent living and making friends in this community.
Sherry leaves behind a legacy of faith, resilience, and deep love for her family, and she will be both dearly missed and joyously remembered.
She was preceded in death by her brother, her parents, and her beloved husband, Bill W. Hargis.
Sherry is survived by her children: Toni Sudduth and husband Bill “Rabbit” of San Angelo; Bobbi Burke and husband Harry of Phoenix, Arizona; and Wayne Martin and wife Karen of Granbury, Texas; her grandchildren Dest Sudduth and wife Tera, Ridge Goodloe and husband Craig, Riley Burke, Reagan Martin, Alexandra Bomberger, and Grant Bomberger; her great-grandchildren Brooks Goodloe and Lira Sudduth; her brother Richard “Rick” Thompson and wife Barbara of Midland, Texas; her niece Wendi Tucker; nephews Alan Thompson and Tallian Thompson; along with numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and many dear friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2026, at West Angelo Church of Christ, 3200 San Antonio Street, San Angelo, Texas with Roy Easterly officiating.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many caregivers who supported Sherry in her final weeks. They include Desiree, Samantha, Kathleen, Jesse, Marlaina, Melisa, Julianna, Allissa, Alexandria, Adrianne, Johnny, Julia, Kendra, Echi, Angela, Rebecca, Alondra, Stacy and Dr. Brewer.
