Sheila Karen Owen Welch

October 6, 1943 — February 18, 2024

Sheila Karen Owen Welch, 80, of Park Hill, Oklahoma, passed away at home on February 18, 2024. She was born on October 6, 1943, in Upland, California, to Odessa and Willie Travis Owen, Sheila was the youngest of three sisters.


She graduated from Barstow High School before furthering her studies at Oklahoma Junior College, where she earned her Associates of Science and Business.  Sheila pursued a career in nursing, graduating from Francis Tuttle Vo Tech in Oklahoma City, working as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Edmond Memorial Hospital and University Park Skilled Nursing and Therapy in Tahlequah.


On June 14, 1963, Sheila married David Pierce Welch in Hinkley, California. They had two sons, Travis and Raymond Welch, and shared over 50 years together until David's passing in 2015.


Sheila is survived by her sons, Travis Welch and wife Lisa of Ponca City, OK, and Raymond Welch and wife Meri of Oklahoma City, OK, her grandchildren, Trista Carter and husband LaDarius, Holly Welch and husband Paul TeRonde, Eric Welch and wife Kaitlyn, Lloyd Welch and wife Megan, Blake Welch and wife Chloe, as well as her 12 great-grandchildren. Sheila is also survived by her sister, Deannie Picciotti, and a multitude of friends, and neighbors.


Sheila was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband David, and her sister, Betty Dame.


A memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at 12:00pm at Tenkiller Harbor Community Center.
