Stanley Amos Lockhart, son of the late Anna Evalena and Amos Edward Lockhart of Parkersburg, West Virginia, was born in Parkersburg on September 30, 1927. He graduated from Parkersburg High School and attended college at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, where he met Carolyn Randolph of Bandana, Kentucky. They married two years later while he was attending Abilene Christian University where he received his B.A. degree. He received his M.A. degree from Eastern New Mexico University. Stanley was a minister for the churches of Christ for over 50 years throughout Texas including Johnson Street in San Angelo, Skillman Avenue in Dallas and Westbury in Houston. Stanley served on the Abilene Christian University board for seventeen years. He served as an elder at Johnson Street. He conducted lectureships throughout the country and internationally. He wrote three songs, “Lord I’ll Follow”, “Make a Joyful Noise” and “Others”. He wrote and published two books, “Fragile Moments” and “The Holy Spirit, His Person and Work”. Stanley is survived by two daughters, Lyndolyn and husband Curt Pervier of Midland, and Sherry and husband Steve Bird of Austin. He has three grandchildren, Chelsea Pervier, Ryan and his wife Megan Pervier and Jonathan Bird and three great grandchildren, Locklyn, Gage and Lillian Pervier. Services will be conducted by Dr. Jay Lockhart and Paul Shero. Burial will follow the service at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
