Stephen Stiles

Stephen Stiles died peacefully at home on September 13, 2025. Steve was born on February 22, 1942, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He graduated from Lafayette High School in 1960 and attended the University of Missouri, playing basketball for the Tigers. He took a year off from college to live in Manhattan Beach, CA, inspiring his lifelong love of the ocean. After graduating in 1965, he worked for IBM until he discovered his true calling in real estate. He moved back to California and worked for Grubb & Ellis and the Mowana Corporation in resort sales and development in California, Hawaii and Mexico. He then formed his own development company, Kaiser, Saxton & Stiles, and continued to do real estate development in California, Arizona and Texas for many years. He also returned to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where he had an office for many years. He was an avid sports fan, always following his beloved Mizzou Tigers. In 1992, he met Donna, the love of his life, and they married in 1997. After he retired, he and Donna lived in blissful peace on their ranch “somewhere down in Texas.”

He is survived by his wife, Donna Bowen (San Angelo, TX); his children, Shaun Stiles (Hermosa Beach, CA) and Trisha Stiles (Seattle, WA); his stepson, Colby and Jennifer Johnson (St. Jospeh, MO); and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alice and Clarence Stiles; his sister, Marilyn Miller; and stepsons, David and Michael Hughes.
