Steven Louis Belmont

April 27, 1955 — January 3, 2026

San Angelo

Steven Louis Belmont, age 70, stepped from this life to the next on January 3, 2026.

He was born in the Bronx, New York and spent all but two years of his life in Texas. Steven attended Sacred Heart Catholic School, Lee Junior High, and Central High School (class of ’73).

Steven was the life of the party He loved to dance, good music, Harry Potter, musicals, reading, flowers, astrology, art and nice cars.

He began working at the age of 16 to afford his first car. It was his pride and joy. As his life continued, he was constantly trading “up” for nicer and newer. He was a car hound for sure. From the moment he got his license, he was never without a “nice ride.”

Steven was blessed to have friends from as far back as his elementary years; and a lot of them. In his final days, numerous calls were received from names from his childhood who wanted to speak to him one last time. He took friendship very seriously and was extremely loyal to those who were lucky enough to be his friend. He would do anything for a friend, including cleaning, cooking, running errands, supporting though hard times, and just listening when they needed it. Of course, that “listening” was always followed by his opinion on the subject, whether popular or not.

Our family was blessed with a baby girl in 1971, Christi Belmont. The first grandchild and the first niece. Steven was smitten early as he became her babysitter, then her playmate, then her friend, and her one and only Uncle Steve. He became Uncle Steve to her friends as well, and together they had the most memorable times.

Then that young lady had a son, Braxton Belmont, and steven was once again smitten from the moment he arrived. He became Braxton’s babysitter, playmate, friend, and Uncle Steve to him as well. Braxton was his pride and joy and he loved him with all of his heart, and, the feeling was mutual.

Steven worked as a salesman for the majority of his life. While he sold several things, the jewelry business is where he shined. He worked for several major jewelers. He developed a clientele over the years because he knew his stuff. Whether it was in Lubbock, Austin, the Dallas-Fort Worth Area, or in his hometown of San Angelo, Texas, which he referred to as “Dodge”, His people followed him for their major purchases.

In the last years of his life, he worked as a wine expert at Pinkies Liquor Store and developed quite a clientele there as well. As well as he knew jewelry, he probably knew wine even better. He made many friends from his employment there.

Steven is survived by his three siblings, John Belmont, Allie Belmont (Mona), and Joyce Shelton (Ken). He is also survived by nieces Christi Belmont, Katie Rae Peppard, Ricky Wallace (Richard), and nephews Brian Belmont, and Tim Carr (Hailey). He also leaves behind great nieces Kendall and Savannah Wallace, great nephews, Landon and Brody Carr, Asher Peppard, and Braxton Belmont.

He also leaves behind numerous friends who were like family, including Jessica Soto, his goddaughter, Kathy Schwartz, his lifelong friend from grade school, and so many others to numerous to name here.

He was preceded in death by his mother Rae Belmont, his brother-in-law, George Shelton, his great nephew Ethan Wallace, his best friend Kim Warren, Ann Rodgers, and so many others.

A memorial service planned by Steven with his wishes, will be held at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas on Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 Am in the Chapel. He wanted it short and simple and he did not want anyone to be sad, so wear bright colors, and bring your sweet memories.

The family would like to offer their sincere thanks to Dr. Kuder and his nurse Angela for their care and support for Steven in the last two months. A special thank you to the Skilled Nursing Staff at Meadowcreek Nursing Home, Especially the nurses who were so good to him and our family, Romona, Diana, and Bill. You were invaluable to us.
