May 7, 1958 — June 15, 2025

San Angelo

Steven Boyd Morris of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on June 15, 2025, surrounded by family. Steve was born on May 7, 1958 in Snyder, Texas to parents Sherrod Len “Mac” Morris and Avis Joy Morris (née Oliver).

Steve and his family moved to Colorado City, Texas, in 1971, and in 1976, Steve graduated from Colorado City High School. He worked in the oil field for a brief period before joining his father in the family business: Costin Implement, Colorado City’s Ford Tractor Dealership. In 1979, Steve met Dee Ann Hamer. In 1980, Steve and Dee Ann married and later that year they welcomed baby girl, Manda Dee. Two years later, baby boy, Kristopher Boyd, joined the bunch. While in Colorado City, Steve served as President of Kiwanis Club, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Colorado City, and was actively involved in the AJRA.

In 1987, Steve, Dee Ann, Manda, and Kris moved to Austin where Steve owned a landscaping business. In 1989, Steve and Kris moved back to Colorado City, where Steve resumed working for Costin Implement and helped to open branch locations in El Paso and Las Cruces.

In 1993, Steve moved to San Angelo, and on November 12, 1994, he married the love of his life, Kit Marie (née Smith).

In 1994, Steve began his much-loved career in Real Estate, which he continued until his death. From 2000 to 2009 Steve served on the Board of the West Texas Boys Ranch, and from 2006-2008 he Chaired the Board. He was also heavily involved with the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo where he was a long-time volunteer with the Premium Sale.

Steve and Kit loved to travel, and in recent years, they enjoyed trips to Bermuda, Miami Beach, Aspen, Savannah, Las Vegas (to see King George), along with frequent trips to Ruidoso.

Steve is survived by his wife, Kit; daughter, Manda Salladay, and husband, James, of San Angelo; son, Kris, and wife, Stefanie (née Seefeld), of Lubbock, Texas; and step-daughter, Linsey Lovell, of Miami Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Jake and Miley Morris; mother, Joy, of San Angelo; older sister, Cindy Capana, and husband, Tom, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, younger sister, Sheri Lovette, of Lubbock, Texas; sister-in-law, Marsha Smith (née Williams), of Tacoma, Washington; brother-in-law, Tracy Smith, and wife Kim (née Coker) of Flower Mound, Texas; as well as an aunt, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his former wife, Dee Ann Schneider, mother of Manda and Kris, of Georgetown, Texas; and his extensive chosen family: the Taco Tuesday guys, the Old Man Breakfast Club, and many other friends, too numerous to name. The ones who will miss him most of all, however, are his beloved Labrador Retrievers, Strait and Sterling.

He was preceded in death by his father, Sherrod Len “Mac” Morris; mother-in-law, Fern Smith (née Seay); brother-in-law, Gary Smith; and granddog, Linsey’s Rain Racer Enzo aka Enzo Lovell.

The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors in the CVICU at University Medical Center in El Paso for taking care of Steve in his last days.
