Sylvia Lillian Hyles “Granny”, age 85, passed away on June 15, 2025, in Eden, Texas. She was born on March 7, 1940, in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Sylvia proudly served as a dispatcher for the Eden Police Department for over 18 years. She was also a familiar and friendly face at Eden Short Stop, where she worked as a cashier for more than 15 years. Sylvia was known for her strong work ethic, warm spirit, and deep love for her family. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones.
She is survived by her daughter, Kathrine Malone and husband Ronnie Winans; grandchildren, Felisha Malone of Eden, TX, Shawna Malone of Grand Saline, TX, Kenneth Kincheloe and wife Amber of Eden, TX, Joe Castanuela and wife Kellsey of San Angelo, TX, Julie Barba of Eden, TX; and numerous great-grandchildren who lovingly knew her as “Granny.”
Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Lee Hyles of Eden, TX, and her parents.
Viewing will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at Eden Funeral Home. A graveside service will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Eden Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ronnie Winans, Kenneth Kincheloe, Joe Castanuela, Julie Barba, Calvin Malone, and Nate Barba. Honorary pallbearers include Felisha Malone, Lane Cumbie, and Rachael Barba.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Yellow Team, Hospice of San Angelo, and to all the family and friends who loved and supported Sylvia throughout her life.
