Terrell “Teapot” Collins transitioned from this life to paradise at 6:05 a.m. on August 18, 2026 at the age of 77, peacefully, and surrounded by loved ones.
He was a son of San Angelo, born on September 6, 1948, and it was there where he returned to spend his final years—within earshot of San Angelo Stadium, where he made a name for himself as a young football player on the 1966 State Championship ‘Angry Orange’ Central Bobcats football team.
He attended Edison Jr. High and Central High School before going on to the University of Texas at Austin, where he proudly wore #33 while playing for the legendary Darrell Royal Longhorns football squads from 1969–1970. During those seasons, he helped secure National Championships in both years.
His friends were numerous, and among them was a magical, unbreakable bond shared with his many teammates. They made it their lifelong mission to be there for one another, a testament to the friendships and brotherhood they built together.
After college, he became a journeyman electrician and was among the most adept of his peers when it came to solid, honest, hard work. You could not find a harder worker, father, or provider, nor one with a more generous heart and stronger sense of family. He was always willing to drive across the state—or across the country—for anyone who needed him, and he would have given you his last dollar if you needed it.
He was also a man of great humor who laughed heartily and carried a positive attitude even when life presented him with difficult decisions. Every single time, he thought of his family first and himself second.
He was the son of James and Lena Mae Collins, parents who were incredibly proud of him. They held lifelong reserved seats at San Angelo Stadium to watch their children, and later their children’s children, grow up and pursue their dreams.
His brother, Randy, and sister, Donna, preceded him in death and are now with the Lord Jesus Christ.
Those he leaves behind who were touched by his good nature and stalwart heart include his wife of 50 years, Deborah; his three sons, Joshua, Travis, and Jimmy; and his nieces and nephews, Stevie, Angie, Cami, and Marci.
He also leaves behind many friends who possess the same strength of character that he did and who proved their love and loyalty to him time and time again.
And, of course, he leaves behind his beloved adopted family member and pet, Thor.
Terrell leaves behind a legacy of hard work, laughter, loyalty, generosity, and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends. He was a man who showed up when people needed him, gave freely when he had little to give, and never forgot the people he loved.
He will be deeply missed, but the impact he made on the lives around him will remain forever.
Services celebrating Terrell’s life will be held at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas on Monday August 24th. Family will receive friends and guests at 12:30 PM prior to the service, and services will begin at 1:00 PM with a reception following.
