Thelma Helen Quick

Thelma Helen Quick, 93, passed away June 13, 2026, in her home in San Angelo. She was born March 5, 1933 in Grand Ledge, Michigan to Victor and Sarah (Dumond) Kline.

Thelma grew up along the banks of the Grand River playing with her four siblings and growing a lifelong love of the outdoors. She also wanted to prove to the world that girls could do anything that boys could do, including rebuilding engines with her brothers. In her late teens, she married Tom Spence and they raised five children until his death in 1988. Thelma remarried in 1992 to Allen Quick. They made their home in Grand Ledge for a time and then decided to move to Texas. They settled in San Angelo on Lake Nasworthy until his death in 1998. Thelma loved Texas with all of her heart, and she loved the saying "I wasn't born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could!". In the early 60's, Thelma became one of Jehovah's Witnesses and spent the rest of her life in service to him.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, her three brothers, Raymond, Louie and Bob, of Michigan, and one sister, Wilma "Bootsy" Fitzpatrick of San Angelo. Her three sons, Tommy and Jeff, of Michigan and Victor of San Angelo, and her grandson, Victor Jr. of San Angelo.

She is survived by two daughters, Cindy Kelly and husband Pat, and Penny Aseltine, all of Michigan. Four grandchildren, Michael, Matthew, Amanda and Jenny, and several great-grandchildren. Also surviving are her daughter-in-law, Dawn Spence and nephew Alex Farmer, both of the home.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Ma's witness family, Viola, Melissa, Deanna and so many more that helped us and came to visit during this long journey. Also, endless thanks to St. Gabriel's Hospice for the excellent care that she was given, plus special thanks to Mollie, Ashley, Tammy, Sherrie, Meghan and many others for caring so much and treating us like family.

A service will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in San Angelo, TX on Saturday, June 27th at 1:30pm.
