Thresa Gale (McRea) McClain, a life long resident of San Angelo, passed away on June 21, 2023 after a long battle with cancer. Born November 6, 1958, to Henry Floyd McRea and Virginia Owen Wilhite, she graduated from Lakeview High School and a year later married her sweetheart, Chip McClain, in 1978. She was a member of the Christadelphian Church. An avid storyteller, her smile and bright eyes lit up a room when she entered, and her greatest passion was her family. Thresa was the one everyone called when they needed a helping hand or a shoulder to lean on. Her strength came from her faith in God and her belief that all "things were possible with God".
We, as her family all admire her acceptance of God's will in her life. She never had self pity nor questioned why. She knew her greatest accomplishment were her children and grandchildren. She cherished her time with them and they cherish her. Thresa had many friends whom she loved and entertained with her stories, infectious laugh and quick wit. She was fun, artistic and faithful. She loved Bunco and to gamble, and was easily conned into an innocent game of poker with family or friends or an occasional trip to the casino.
She was preceded in death by her daughter Mandy and her parents. Those left behind to carry on her legacy are her husband of 44 1/2 years, Chip; son, Skip McClain; sisters, Nancy Varner and Susan Sherwood; grandchildren Chandler McClain, Jake McClain and Lilah Smith-McClain; sister-in-law, Debbye Watson; brother-in-law Stoddard McClain and wife Johnna; sister-in-law Toni Holik; several nieces and nephews; and 15 of the most awesome cousins anyone could ask for. A special thank you goes out to Hospice of San Angelo along with our cousins who made her last months more special and a little easier---from floor installation to cards, flowers, food, reunion, a/c repair, financial needs and extended visits. May God bless each one of you for being there, for showing up and being the kind of family that make our ancestors proud.
