Tommy Alves Corbell

September 20, 1954 — February 17, 2024

Tommy Alves Corbell, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away on February 17, 2024, in San Angelo, Texas, after a brief, unknown illness. Born on September 20, 1954, in Roswell, New Mexico, to Fay and Grady Corbell, Tommy's journey was marked by profound connections and meaningful contributions.

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of 32 years, Trisha Corbell, who loved his children Jeffrey, Paige, and Nelda as her own, alongside their grandson Jackson Gonzales. Tommy is also survived by his sister, Linda Scarpa, and esteemed in-laws Mary and Dee Haddock, Cheryl and Greg Bushell, Mark and Darla Buccigrossi, and many special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his parents, Fay and Grady Corbell, his beloved daughter Paige Corbell, and his parents-in-law, Norma and Frank Buccigrossi.

Tommy's heart overflowed with love for his family and friends. A dedicated supporter, he cheered fervently for the ASU women's soccer team and reveled in moments watching Jackson excel on the football field. He found joy in travel, particularly when a nearby casino awaited, and cherished rounds of golf and hunting trips. Tommy's compassionate nature shone through in his work with therapy dogs Ace, Cosmo, Finn, and Remi, whom he delighted in bringing to libraries and community gatherings.

Professionally, Tommy's impact was profound. Commencing his career in public accounting in 1974, he earned his BBA from Texas Tech University in 1975 before joining Armstrong Backus & Co. in 1976. Becoming a CPA in 1982, Tommy ascended to tax partner status in 1984, adeptly advising clients in taxation and business matters. His reach extended far beyond the office, as evidenced by his myriad community roles, including leadership positions in the Westside Lions Club, the American Cancer Society, and the San Angelo Country Club. His altruism found expression in service as President and Treasurer of both the Hospice Foundation and Hospice of San Angelo, and his dedication to ethical standards was reflected in his roles with the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants.
