Tommy Loy Ammons was a special man. He was Born in Fisher County, Texas, on February 9, 1939, to Glyndol Thomas Ammons and Jeanette Marie (Graves) Ammons. He passed away on Sunday, June 26, 2022 at the age of 83 in San Angelo, Texas. Tommy’s dad and mom had a dairy and it was lots of hard work and long hours. Tommy grew up helping out at the dairy that may be when he decided he wanted to be a good student and do something else with his life. He graduated from Roby High School in 1957 and enrolled at Tarleton State College in the Fall. He spent two years in the army and after his honorable discharge he worked and saved money where he could return to college. He graduated from Tarleton in 1967. After a semester at West Texas State in Canyon, he applied and got a job as a federal bank examiner. He spent the next 30 years in the banking business. In 1969 he married his college sweetheart, Joyce Ann (Reese) Ammons. They celebrated 53 years of marriage together. Joyce taught school and Tommy was a banker in Breckenridge, Brady, and in 1975 they moved to San Angelo. They have two children, a daughter, Jennifer Brooke (Ammons) Turnage (Brett) and they have four children: Avree, William, Aubree, And Weston. They also have a son, Michael Scott Ammons (Brandy) and they have three sons: Noah, Cameron, and Owen. Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Tolly Roy and Joe Ammons. Tommy’s memorial service will be Thursday, June 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Southland Baptist Church.
