Obituary

Virginia Ramirez Quintela of San Angelo, went to her heavenly home peacefully on February 27th, 2026, at the age of 82. She was born on July 8th,1943 in Fort Stockton, TX, to parents Emma and Fred Ramirez, Sr.

Virginia attended schools in Ft. Stockton and was involved in the high school band. Virginia lived on a ranch with her family and loved horseback riding. She later married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life Domingo Quintela in August of 1962. They lived in Monahans, Arizona, Midland, Snyder, and later retired in San Angelo, TX. Virginia taught kindergarten many years in Midland and Snyder school districts as well as Spanish at Angelo Catholic School. After retirement her love for teaching never ended; she embraced it fully in her role as a grandmother and great grandmother. Virginia found joy in watching Young and the Restless, playing loteria, cooking warm meals, tending to her garden, getting lost in a good book, visiting Winstar with her beloved husband, and surrounding herself with family and friends.

Virginia is survived by her children, Sharon Maldonado (Teo) of Corpus Christi, Debra Melott (James) of San Angelo, Thomas Quintela (Rosie) of San Angelo, and Christy Smith (Ben) of Snyder, her grandchildren: Brittany Cibrian (Pete) of Refugio, Corbin Smith (Ashley) of Snyder, Kaitlin Silvas (Derrick) of Refugio, Mallory Khantharasy (Dylan) of San Angelo, Nick Melott (Brooke) of Durham, Hannah Orwick (Brayden) of Burleson, and Cheyenne Quintela (Alfredo) of Austin, her great-grandchildren: Luke, Jordan, Ramses, Briella, Aiden, Gavin, Aubrey, Milo, Eli, Birdie, and Pierce, and her siblings: Fred Ramirez (Vera) of Killeen, Frankie Ramirez (Elfida) of Monahans, and Gerri Jones (Joe) of Midland. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 61 years, Domingo Quintela and her parents Emma and Fred Ramirez, Sr. and her sister and brother-in-law, Carrie and Abel Salazar.

The Quintela Family would like to thank the medical staff of Shannon Medical Center and the Hospice of San Angelo inpatient unit for their kind and loving care. Flowers are welcome or memorial gifts can be made directly to Meals for the Elderly or Angelo Catholic School.
