Walter Joseph "Mike" Dupre of San Angelo, passed away January 25, 2019, at the age of 71. He was born August 21, 1947, in Ville Platte, Louisiana, to parents Walter Joseph Sr. and Ruby Jo (Cope) Dupre. Mike married Debbie (Creek) Dupre on October 22, 1972, in San Angelo, and they enjoyed 46 years together. Mike spent twenty-six years working at, and eventually retired from, the Goodyear proving grounds. Mike served our country bravely in the military from 1966-1969, spending some of that time in Vietnam as a Corpsman. He is a five-time purple heart recipient. Mike made quick friends with everyone ensuring he never knew a stranger. He was quick to honor the military, and his heart was near and dear to the marines. He was always sure to offer a plate of food to anyone at any time. He enjoyed such hobbies as hunting, fishing, socializing, swapping stories, cooking, time with his grandkids, and wheeling and dealing. If he didn't have something you were looking for, he knew where he could get one. Mike and Debbie attended Lifepoint Baptist Church for 42 years and early on you could find "uncle Mike," as he was often called, manning the grill or driving a bus for the church. He is survived by his wife Debbie (Creek) Dupre; son Brandon K Dupre and his wife Jennifer Dupre; daughter Michele Dalgliesh and her husband Ryan Dalgliesh; daughter Kristen Metz and her husband, Jarett Metz. He has five wonderful grandchildren, Bekah his "favorite granddaughter" and grandsons, Asher; Cooper; Ryker; and Cohen. Siblings: Vicky Carter and her husband Tommy Carter, Maxine Hamilton, and Randy Dupre and many special nieces and nephews. Mike is preceded in death by his brother in law Jim Hamilton and his niece Cindy Cobb. Visitation for Walter Joseph "Mike" Dupre will be held from 5:00-7:00pm on Monday, January 28, 2019, at Harper Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00am on January 29, 2019, at Lifepoint Baptist Church. He will be laid to rest at Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo, TX.
