William Dale Chadwick

William Dale Chadwick, 89, of Waco, Texas, formerly of San Angelo, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, June 28, 2026.

Dale was born in 1936 in Bells, Texas, and grew up in Borger. He married Joyce, the love of his life, in 1955. They celebrated their 70th anniversary last year.

Dale served in the United States Air Force. After his honorable discharge, he and Joyce returned to Borger. While working and going to night school, Dale earned an associate degree. In 1969, he moved his family to Austin to pursue a pharmacy degree at the University of Texas.

After graduating in 1971, Dale moved to San Angelo and began work as a pharmacist. He soon became lead pharmacist at Myers Drug, where he served for more than 30 years. In 1976, Dale and Joyce purchased the small, struggling pharmacy. Through hard work and God’s blessings, it became a downtown San Angelo institution. Their son Doug later joined them as a pharmacist and eventually became owner.

Dale later purchased the former J.C. Penney building on Chadbourne Street and completed a major renovation, transforming it into a pharmacy, gift shop, and medical equipment center. He also served for many years as treasurer of the West Texas Pharmacy Association. Dale retired in 2006, with Joyce following shortly afterward.

Dale loved his family and enjoyed business, but the true joy of his life was his love for God. He gave his life to Jesus Christ in 1964, and his life was never the same. He later served at College Hills Baptist Church as a deacon, on pastor search committees, and, with Joyce, as a Sunday School teacher in the Young Married and College and Career classes.

Above all else, Dale had a genuine passion for sharing the gospel. Over his lifetime, he led hundreds of people to Christ, including his own sons. He spoke about Christ wherever he went, including at Myers Drug, and many customers later testified that their lives had been changed through his witness.

Dale’s burden for evangelism extended beyond the United States. He took part in mission trips to Ecuador and China. He also served as a lay preacher throughout West Texas and as interim pastor of a Baptist church in Ozona.

Dale and Joyce generously supported individuals and ministries around the world and established endowed scholarships at Frank Phillips College in Borger and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

In 2024 Dale and Joyce moved to a retirement facility in Waco, where Dale lived until his death.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Joyce; his parents; three brothers; and one sister. He is survived by his son Mike and wife Kathy Chadwick of Liberty, Texas; his son Doug and wife Melissa Chadwick of Waco; seven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends for visitation from 5:00 P.M. – 7:00 P.M., Monday, July 6, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home. The Memorial Service will be at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home. The burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the building fund of the church pastored by Dale’s son Mike: Christ’s Way Baptist Church, 632 CR 6330, Dayton, TX 77535.
